Re: I was able to access OPENLOCK and OPENMEP on MR6500 on 12.xx firmware.
The firmware flashes the software part of the UI/Linux OS, possibly some parts of the modem, but nothing related to enabling disabled bands on the 6500 and other models with only select bands enabled. I have not attempted to enable any bands as my primary goal was to be able to unlock the device, c...

This is an interesting concept, but I'd need a mobile proxy in the U.S. Proxies are faster than VPN's which double encrypt the data needlessly, once through the VPN server then over HTTPS, thus slowing it down and increasing latency. Nowadays 99% of websites are already HTTPS encrypted. Best of all...

I would pop the sim card into a phone to check if calls and internet are working properly. If it's working in a phone then it's the router, if it's flaky in a phone, then it's the service. That simple test would narrow down the issue quickly to a service or hardware issue. Also, I would not use a VP...

Legalities aside, theoretically it should be possible by hacking the firmware. However, it would not be a trivial mod due to the firmware signatures. Starlink just raised their prices to $549 to deposit holders from $499, and $599 for new orders, with monthly fees going up to $110/mo. Hmmmmmmm....... It’s called inflation His cost are raising so he is passing the cost onto the user. Jet Fuel.png Yet cellular plan prices stayed pretty much the sa...

Re: WE826-T2 No Modem Present SOLVED (Fibocom 860-GL)
I installed the WE826-WD firmware and that made no change to the SIM Missing error. Well, if the sim was working before in the router without any changes, then it's unlikely caused by the firmware. As far as I know, the WE826-T2 is basically the same hardware as the WE826-WD, so try reflashing it w...

Ok, I didn't want to put the new SIM in there until I had the IMEI changed so I was using an old Verizon SIM that no longer has service. Would not having service make the SIM show up as "Missing"? Here's what I am seeing: https://1drv.ms/i/s!AjcwMUKGyqifgZ0rQFuehZITcys7Sw?e=Uk9quC Regardl...

I would test the sim card in a phone first if you haven't done so already.
In rare cases SIM cards can go bad.

Hi everyone! I am new to this website. I read all posts related to my problem and I still didn't find a solution. T-mobile throttles video streaming to 480p on their essentials plan, magenta plan and on their MVNO plans such as Simple mobile, Mint mobile, and many more. I current DON'T have hotspot...

Good advice @BillA . I've not flashed the em12 before since it's been problem free. I will see if I can do it with qfirehose and/or try to find m2 sled I bought years back. Unfortunately I don't have any other router besides the 1608 nor do I have another module. Looks like most options of buying o...

Re: wg1608/quec em12 - randomly powers down
Yes ~2 years ago I removed the lid of the 1608 and put a finned cpu heatsink on the em12g's metal shield held in place with white thermal compound. It reduced the temperature by some but I doubt its nesecary in the environment I have it in. I do not think the resetting is due to temperature, I moni...

Re: LTE Provider options for Home Internet
Honestly, I try to avoid any providers that route their traffic through different/additional portals than the main providers APN. This is why visible ping times suck. Granted i've not tried them to see if you can avoid their APN or not, but initially liked the idea of a carrier (US Mobile) having a...

Currently pretty much all phone plans have some kind of hotspot limit. If you don't want to get a full blown router to bypass the limit, you could go with an inexpensive GL-Inet MT300N mini travel router smaller than a pack of cigarettes. https://www.amazon.com/GL-iNET-GL-MT300N-V2-Repeater-300Mbps-...

The tethering issue with certain phones is likely caused by the implementation of the hotspot app/firewall in the phone. Instead of the stock hotspot/tethering ...

Might work. Might present noise. Not really sure. I should try sometime.
It would probably work, but you would have to play around with the antennas "pairs" to see which combination works best on two 2xMIMO modems.

I haven't got a change to run WireGuard on GoldenOrb/WiFix since it requires the installation of extra packages and some tweaking. However, I connected my WG3526's LAN-1 to the WAN port of a GL-Inet Slate (GL-AR750S) which has WireGuard built in, it works great pushing around 50Mbps fully encrypted....

Can I use the router to fine tune aiming the antenna? How would I do that? Assuming you have external antennas, try rotating them together in a full 360 degree circle at 45 degree increments (8 turns total), restart the router each time, wait about 5 minutes, then test the speed again. It's importa...
