Dell DW5811e (Sierra MC7455) in Dell Latitude E7470 notebook doesn't work

Post by ciscospirit »

Hello,

i am running out of order with debugging the last 2 days but can't find any solution.

I am using a Dell Latitude E7470 notebook and bought over ebay a Dell DW5811e LTE module, which is a branded Sierra MC7455. I use Windows 10 in latest version as OS.

So far so good, it worked fines sometimes, sometimes it was not found in Windows, sometimes it was "deactivated". Anyway since my last update to the latest Windows 10 version and also installing the newest drivers from the Dell website, i am unable to activate the module.

i installed this drivers:
DW5811e-Qualcomm-Snapdragon-X7-LTE-Firmware-and-GNSS_97FX1_WIN_7.54.4799.502_A06

i hope this are the right once, cause also on the Dell website there are some "Customer Kit Only" drivers called:
DW5811e-Customer-Kit-Module-Qualcomm-Snapdragon-X7_DC242_WIN_7.54.4799.502_A06_02

I also tried to flash the latest firmware with FDT2.exe but i am not really sure, which firmware version i should use and i am also not sure about, what .NVU i should take, that it works perfect in my Dell notebook.

if i go into the Device Manager i see the COM ports for DM, NMEA and the Modem under Modems. Also under networkdevices i see the DW5811e adapter.

i can also connect to the LTE modem via Huawei Terminal and can use AT commands. so thats all working fine, but windows is not able to let me connect, the status is still "deactived". i see my Austrian T-Mobile provider and also that i have perfect connection, but i can't activate and connect.

so what should i do?
i tried installing several different drivers. Dell drivers, generic drivers and also tried to flash newer firmware and so on, but i am not sure, what is the best practice for my Dell notebook.

my questions:

a.) what is the right version for my Dell notebook? can i also use the generic version or is just the dell version the right one?
b.) my current installed firmware 02.24.05.06 is not the newest, if i look into the dell driver package image folder. but it is the only he installed me. should i try to update it? if yes, how should i do this?
c.) should i flash the latest generic firmware?
d.) can i use the generic .NVU file or should i use the dell .nvu? this one is included in the driver package: 1102424_9904336_EM7455_02.04.07.00_00_Dell_001.003_000

i know i have such much information here, but i really need help to get this to work, cause i spent a lot of hours and can't find a solution by myself.

Thank you for your help!
