EM160r-gl MIMO antennas 2x2 + 2x2 possible?

Esoteric question about MIMO 2x2 and 4x4 antennas

I want to build my own arrangement with diy antennas as a learning experience and I'm having trouble finding documentation that doesn't require a 600 level degree in RF theory
I am trying to set my camper (that moves constantly) up with a more reliable connection and have moved from a single band ec25 to a carrier aggregating EM160.
What I really want to do is put up a couple omni 9db antennas for one 2x2 and possibly a set of homebrew biquads as the other 2x2 set. That way no matter where I am I get reception with the omni's and if need be can direct the biquads toward the appropriate tower.
My em160 supports 2x2 and 4x4, I'm hoping it supports 2x2 + 2x2
I promise I'm not just asking here. I've been reviewing the data sheet and googling furiously (including the quectel forums)

OR should I just put up 4 9dbi antennas and be done with it?

I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on prefabbed antennas, so please don't tell me to just A>buy and B>an overpriced antenna Thanks!

Thanks!

You're looking for the hardware design guide, reference RF ports. Other than that a general idea of what it does during operation.
I'll be at my office pc in about two hours. I'll link and explain what I think when I get there.

The modem uses the main and div ports for all general LTE transmissions. It only uses the two mimo ports for mid and high band frequencies (MHB: 1452–2690 MHz), and only under load, AND only on towers that support 4x4 MIMO engagement. The Main and Div will support all frequencies (~600-6000 MHz)

HOLY HECK THAT'S AWESOME
THANK YOU

So there is no real point in trying to use directional antennas on mimo1 and mimo2 unless I also put them on main and div and point them all at the same tower

Is there anything special about a 4x4 mimo antenna element wise? Like are they all tuned to the same or different frequencies?

Thank you so much. Even if I decide not to build an arrangement I very much appreciate having a better understanding of the equipment and setup.

I'll be reviewing all the documentation as I can; i'm still waiting on a few parts before I fire this card up.

Generally all 4x4 antennas use four identical elements placed in different rotated positions.

rotated for phase, not direction, yeah?

so 0, 45, 90, and 135 degrees phasing?

More like dual 315, 45 phasing in a stack.
