NEXP1GO-RM520N-GL on T-Mobile Prepaid Plan

After receiving the router, I went through the various tutorials as suggested in this forum and the Wireless Haven site. I have it working with my limited knowledge but I would like to know what to look at to get more throughput. My download speeds range from 60Mbs to a little over 100Mbs.
I have tried a few things I see in the various forum post such as changing the protocol to QMI or MBIM. I have tried a number of TTL/HL settings with no real change. Oddly when I try to run AT commands, I just get an error ever time.
Can someone point me in the right direction of what to look at next?
