LT18 Verizon won't connect to Cellular

I just bought a new LT18 router, updated its firmware, changed IMEI to match my verizon tablet IMEI. When I insert the Verizon nano sim into slot 1 or 2, under cellular box of LT18 it's stuck at "connecting" when the APN is set to auto and/or manual (vzwinternet).
Is there a step I am missing to get router to connect to Verizon network?

I didn't have to change the IMEI.
I went with a Verizon data plan and also bought their Orbic Speed hotspot device. The SIM was all activated and I tested it with the Orbic Speed device at the store to make sure. This was horrible at our cabin - 1 bar but it kept disconnecting.
I bought an LT18 within the last 7 days, took it to the cabin and just plugged in the nano sim into slot 1 and it was able to pick up 1 bar - this was still pretty horrible but more consistent 1 bar than the Orbic Speed.
