Help needed in repairing our broken RM502Q-AE

Context to what broke it:
1. Accidentally flashed RM502Q-EA firmware through QFirehose_Linux_Android_1.4.9, bricking the RM502Q-AE.
2. Had to short a specific circle on the back of the RM502Q-AE module, then flashed via "QFirehose -e firmware.zip"; -e had to be used, a normal flash didn't work.

Modem enclosure: ZBT WG1608 16M powered by a 12V 6A 72W charger; also broken on Wireless Haven's USB 5G modem enclosure connected to a Linksys WRT1900ACS.

NOTES: socat - /dev/ttyUSB2,crnl has a high change of making /dev/ttyUSB2 "TIMEOUT ERROR".

Run 1.

I just dealt with the "SIM Missing" issue on my WG3526/ NEXP1GO with RM502.

The cause was the SIM enclosure pins not making full contact with the SIM card. My error was CME Error: 13. My solution was to change the modem adapter (PCIe to M.2) to one that has nano SIM slots. You can pick one up in the Wireless Haven store for about $20. If not, you will need to remove your SIM enclosure and put tension back on the pin contactors.

when you "2. Had to short a specific circle on the back of the RM502Q-AE module, then flashed via "QFirehose -e firmware.zip"; -e had to be used, a normal flash didn't work." did you flash back the original firmware or the new one?

I recently flashed my RM502q-ae with firehose -e and the modem became inoperable. It was stuck in FTM, factory test mode. Someone from Quectel sent me a new XQCN partition file.
This apparently also deletes the calibrated data which you need to do RF testing. If you're not doing RF testing then simply replacing the xqcn file will get the modem back up and running

Well that says alot about Quectel, they are willing to offer you support if they knew it got messed up by a firehose loader, that is some good customer service right there.

I'm also looking for the XQCN file for the RM502Q-AE. I have tried support but unfortunately I'm not getting any response. If you could share this file that would be great!

Post on the Quectel forum, and say that you have 10 pieces of RM502Q-AE modems to fix, they'll respond quicker that way. ;)

Thanks, it might come to that!! I did get a reply from Quectel support but I am just getting the run-around. I suspect they are going to say they won't support me because I didn't buy from an "authorized" supplier.

They usually support volume buyers quicker, tell 'em you bought it on Alibaba, China's "Amazon/Ebay". heh
