Strange Speed Test Results - Need Help

Post by BDF1234 »

Hi All - I'm getting some really strange speed test results.

Google Speedtest DL = 0.58 Mbps
AT&T Speedtest DL = 67.4 Mbps

Those tests were run with in 30 seconds. What I notice is that webpages are loading very slowly, yet most streaming seems to still work and Zoom meetings seem to still work. Any idea as to what is causing this?

My equipment:
Raspberry Pi 3B+ with GoldenOrb (2021-02-04, OpenWrt 19.07.6)
Quectel EM160R-GL

My plan:
AT&T Phone plan Unlimited Elite (postpaid). I have two lines, one for my cell phone and one for the router.
I typically use 200 GB's per month of data on the line for the router, and 5-10 GB's per month on the cell phone.

Signal:
Generally connected to Band 66 with 2 way CA. Sometimes 3 way CA with Band 12 as the secondary. Signal strength is usually around -100dBm. Not great, but usually good enough to pull 80 Mbps DL speed. You will see in the screen shot below that I had 3 way CA working, yet the Google speed test was only 0.58 Mbps.

This rig has been working flawlessly for the most part for 8 months or so.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like we're having the same issue. I recently posted the same question. I'm using a vanilla Netgear M1100. No resolution yet but since these are different devices/setups I'm curious how the two correlate
