Access Point for NEXR5GO

Post by dbshelton »

I want to configure a TP Link router I have as an access point for my NEXR5GO router. I google the instructions and then get confused how to do this. Anyone have an easy method?

Well if it is a newer tp link router you put it into access point mode.

It is a new model. Just plug in the cable from LAN to LAN on the main router and it works?

Ethernet from the LAN on the NEXR5GO router to WAN on the tp link router. Typically the WAN on the tp link will be different color. After that just log into the tp link and set it up. There should be different modes in there to set it up a access point. Now it will work with out the setting up as access point. Just will have double nat which does cause some people issues.

If you are reading on the internet that you have to hook the ethernet lan to lan, rename the ip address and deactivate dhcp and all that. Looking at setting up older model router. New routers have this built into them. Literally just a option with them.

After connecting the routers, how do I log in to the TPLink?
Never mind. I was typing the wrong address. I will have to test this weekend.

I guess it is working. have to type in the password for my phone to access that router but I guess that's how it works. Range seems good.
