WG3526 Wifix RM502Q-AE w/Verizon

Hi all,

I'm on my wits end here, I have two other WG3526+EM765 combos working well with ATT and T-Mobile and have been trying to get a stable Verizon setup so that I have backup options when I start travelling the states.

Previously was using a Gl-inet with EPO6 and EC25 modems and the speeds *seemed* to be limited to the hardware (Visible and Page Plus unthrottled) so I upgraded to a WG3526 and a RM502Q-AE. I've been futzing with the new setup over the last two days and managed to get connectivity to Page Plus last night. With the prior hardware I was able to get around 15Mbps but this new setup is getting a consistently great ping but low speed of 0.12Mbps up and down. Horrible. To get connectivity the following commands were needed:

Code: Select all

AT+QPRTPARA=3 # modem to its OEM state
AT+CFUN=1,1 # reboot the modem
AT+QPRTPARA=1 # allow the modem to persist settings
AT+CFUN=1,1 # reboot the modem
AT+QMBNCFG="Select","ROW_Generic_3GPP_PTCRB_GCF"
AT+CFUN=1,1 # reboot the modem
I've searched the forums and found many other tweaks such as TTL, dss, MBIM/QMI, mode_pref, 4g only mode, etc. Tried them all and still getting a consistently slow speed of around 0.12Mbps. The antennas should be fine, I tried a couple different models and had them connected to all 4 ports of the modem and the wifi is taped off in the router and disabled in the firmware.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions anyone can provide. Perhaps I should just give up on Verizon but it would be nice to have it as a backup when I start travelling.

Thanks for any help you all can provide!

What are your signal stats? CSQ? SINR? RSRP? RSRQ?

How exactly are your antennas connected and what exact antennas are you using, and cables between?

What band are you connecting to?

Hi, thanks for the help. Currently the antennas are the 4G antennas that came with the unit (4 total as I had extras from another device). I also tried a Netgear 6000450 MIMO along with 2x Bingfu 4G dipole LTE antennas. I have better antenna arrangements for my other gear and this set was going to be in the bedroom with the antennas stuck to the window of the 5th wheel.

Code: Select all

Network : LTE/NR EN-DC
 CSQ : 24
 Signal Strength : 77%
 RSSI : -65 dBm
 ECIO3G/RSRQ4G/SS_RSRQ5G : -11 dB
 RSCP3G/RSRP4G/SS_RSRP5G : -97 dBm (RxD -93 dBm)
 SINR : 4 dB
 Connection Monitoring Status : Disabled

MCC MNC : 311 480
 RNC3G/eNB ID4G/5G : 090B9 (37049)
 LAC3G/TAC4G/5G : 2507 (9479)
 Cell ID : 20 (32)
 Band : B66 (Bandwidth 10 MHz Down | 10 MHz Up)
 Channel : 66586
 PCI : 35

I appreciate the help Didneywhorl. I'll open her up to make sure none of the antennas disconnected and will try improve reception.

Did you get your signal issues resolved?

The Quectel modem antennas need to be connected as such:

ANT1, ANT2: 2x2 MIMO pair for Low-Band and Mid-Band
ANT0, ANT3: 2x2 MIMO pair for Mid-Band and High-Band

Hope this helps.
