LM960A18 on AT&T AT COMMAND HELP

Post by greatness »

Greetings!

I've been troubleshooting connectivity issues I'm experiencing with my LM960A18 on AT&T's tablet plan. Modem has had magic applied to it, so its showing up as iPad Air (that I own). Download speeds have been horrible to say the least. I've performed speed tests on my ipad with sim installed and speeds reach 100Mbps down 20 Mbps up. Speeds in my NEXR5GO 20Mbps down and 3 Mbps up.

At first I thought the identity crisis would fix my problems, it hasn't. So I'm checking on firmware and possibly band selection in hopes of solving my problem.

Some AT COMMANDS work like,

Code: Select all

AT#GETFW
resulting in

Code: Select all

AT#GETFW

HOST FIRMWARE : 32.00.004_2
SLOT STATUS CARRIER VERSION TMCFG CNV
1 Activated Generic 32.00.114 1023 32101006
2 Verizon 32.00.124 2020 32101006
3 ATT 32.00.143 4021 32101006
4 empty empty empty empty

OK
Question 1: Does the firmware being set to Generic have an impact on speeds when my carrier is AT&T?

I've tried setting the firmware to AT&T but keep getting an error.

Code: Select all

AT#ACTIVEFW=1,3
ERROR
Question 2: Do I need to enter another AT COMMAND in order to be able to make changes to the modem?

Question 3: Would band locking be a better solution? If so, are there preferred AT&T bands I should be locking my Modem to?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

1: Try AT#FIRMWARE=3

2: No "unlock" command needed to do it

3: I only like band locking when you keep getting a band that is garbage, knowing full well the other available bands are better, and it refuses to connect to the better ones.

Thank you for the response. I’ve tried using the following combinations:

AT#ACTIVEFW=1,3
AT#ACTIVEFW=3,1
AT#ACTIVEFW=1.3
AT#ACTIVEFW=3.1
AT#ACTIVEFW=3

They all return ERROR. I’m using the miscellaneous section found under Modem in GoldenOrb, should I send the commands using a different method?

I've been researching this a bit more. It turns out that the generic profile has all bands enabled by default, to include AT&T bands.

Should I focus my efforts in trying to BLOCK B5 or set B2 as my primary to improve my connection. Or should I try to enable the ATT profile first?

Definitely miss the old cable internet days

I just picked up the LM960A18. Mind pointing me in the direction of the spell you cast? Much appreciated
