Using EM7690 on USB 3.0 adapter

Post by cashman04 »

I have the following adapter that doesn't seem to be working with my em7690: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089SPQJT6?ps ... ct_details

I have 2 of these and on my PC or linux neither are detected/work. My guess is the em7690 needs more power than being supplied?

Maybe the modem is in PCI mode? your adapter is USB and has no way to set the modem in USB mode. The adapter needs a special jumper to put the modem in USB so that you can use it, if that is the issue like it is with the EM919x modules. You can solder some pins together to do it, I think. Check the hardware design manual for the EM7690 to really check. I don't think I have one yet though. I haven't played with the 7690 yet.

Use this one: https://thewirelesshaven.com/shop/mini- ... new-style/

Works with all 5G modems too, that I've found.
