I have 2 Mofi 4500 SIM 7?

I just bought 2 Quectel EM12-G CAT 12 modems to install in it, and 8dbi 4G/5G paddle attend as, since the Mofi's came with 3G/4G 5dbi paddles. It is a Wiflyer WE 826 router. 3G is pretty much shutdown now. Should I stick with mofi4500 firmware or switch to goldenOrb?

When I bought the modems they were advertised as 5G+ ready, but I no longer see that listed. It makes sense since Vis*b1e has a 200mbps speed cap on 5G. These modems are rating 600mbps.

Since 5G is on the same band just higher frequency B66, could the 5G paddles be used to fine-tune to 5G B66, with like GoldenORB? Although visible states N238 or something. I have heard N66 works. Can GoldenOrb Firmware detect these N bands with 5G paddles, and are these the right modem to do that?

Either way I wanted to upgrade to try to improve my 10Mbps speeds, the modems in it are Quectel EC25-AF Cat 4, these new ones are CAT 12. I mean I live 8 miles from the nearest bus stop, but a Verizon tower about a mile and a half away. Thanks for your time and patients, I bought the Mofi4500 SIM 7 about 7 months ago when I had to move, I live in a 27 foot 5th wheel.

I have 2 mofi 4500 SIm 7 using Vis*b1e, for about 7 months.. I use linux 2 65 for the TTL. I average 10-15 mbps on B66. I can play Xbox all day, COD, Battlefield 4, and Sea of thieves, while running a Roku and TV on the other with 3 amazon dot type devices, and an Amazon Sow. The Mofi's go into a WAN load balancing VPN Router/lan sitter (VPN not setup, but DNS is), to Two Asus routers one with VPN one without. One with goes to 3 Xboxes, can only use 1 at a time effectivly, just in different roomes. The one without runs the rest of the house and my PC stick (with VPN installed on it)

Be sure to check your MTU and MSS settings as well.
I use 1415 for MSS. MTU is set to 1455. I got these from a youtube video, seems to work.
I just ordered 2 EM12-G CAT 12 modems for them, but not installed yet. Although the slower speeds may look like a normal cell runinng idle with background programs running. Rather than full boar 24/7 like I am on meth or something searching up every bump I hear in the night. Perhaps slower will turn out to be less detectable by the carrier, don't want my IMEI blacklisted. Guess I'll find out.

So I think I bricked my mofi. I installed the modem into one, and it did not work (as suspected) so I went to add GoldenOrb firmware for ZBT WE826-T. For some reason says the new SSID is WIFIX, and the password does not work, just says obtaining IP and times out. Tried to put the mofi4500 V3 firmware on the recovery mode page back in and nothing. The lights still light up, and I can get the recovery mode interface, and when I tried to install a back up configuration it responded "said tranfering data", but in the end nothing. Tried the mofi firmware by the instructions sent me, nothing. Ultimately just a power LED, when it goes into recovery mode power, flashing internet led, then WAN, then just power. Never powers off in recovery. On top of that no new modem installed, not that functioned. Effectively made a $450 paper wieght.

Hey Tuna8er, I would refrain from using configuration backups. I always recommend using fresh flashed firmware and resetting the details by hand. Even though the config was from a working problem free setup, it can still cause issues. Yay openWRT.

I would do the firmware recovery and flash the goldenorb firmware back to it. Then do it again, and again.

Then start fresh.

Also, I would avoid doing any settings or flashing via wifi. Always via ethernet. It's not impossible, just less chances for problems.

You say again and again, shouldn't it work first try? Then start Fresh, I assume you mean go through normal setup. I did the WiFix recommended statip IP:
192.168.1.2
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
Held reset and plugged in, no interface.
I did mofi suggested IP:
192.168.10.7
255.255.255.0
192.168.10.1
Held rest and plugged in, got the blue mofi recovery page. But no firmware would take, tried mofi first, nada. Starting to get concerned tried goldenorb for WE826-T, nada. Tried the WE826-Q and -WD, nada. Then WIFIX, and nada. Went back to Mofi firmware, nada. Tried the backup, said transfering data then nada. So I redid the mofi, nada. That is where I left off last night, today Windows decided to do an upgrade to 20H2 win 10, and I have to reinstall my drivers for Wifi and ethernet. Will do that tomarrow, as I have to go now.

I also noticed in youtube videos, the mofi recovery shows like a status in the upper screen as you upgrade or recover your firmware, than an all done message, I didn't get any of that. It just returned to the can't load page in firefox after I clicked Flash. Did I get a corrupt version of goldenorb/wimax. Either way I know it is not bricked because of the transfering data message. Just need to figure out what is going on. Mofi gave me 2 files to flash 1st recovery, then update .bin files. But I am not sure if I have to reset in between or do back to back. I did back to back first, then tried to reset on last try.

Thanks for your help, and anymore you can provide.

Just learn the WE826-B is the routers I have. They have green LEDS which my mofi's have. I have been trying to install the wrong firmware from the get go. Don't know why this info was so hard to find. I found it on OpenWrt. webpage:

https://openwrt.org/toh/zbt/we-826

You will need to use the mofi static IP, instead of recommended 192.168.1.22 (mofi defaualt for SIM 7 is 192.168.10.1, set the static IP for:
IP: 192.168.10.7
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.10.1
Still don't understand why the mofi firmware doesn't work.
I am very concerned my mofi is FUBAR'ed, is that a word, or an appropriate use of that acronym?

Hello, Had a issue in the past that Mofi firmware wouldn't work since was using the wrong protocol. Allot of time when you flash firmware will change your protocol.
https://wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?t=554

These commands won't work with a SIM 7 set up.

Thanks for yours and the others help. I can't flash any firmware onto it so far. I downloaded Openwrt today, I am waiting for a new LAN USB for my pc, old one isn't recognized any more by windows after upgrade, this one comes with drivers by TP-link. Then I will try to flash OpenWRT, for WE826-B and T models.
I had a different modem in when I did the flashing, then put the old one (mofis original one, Quectel AC25-AF cat 4) before the last mofi firmware flash.
This all started because I wanted to upgrade the modems in the mofi (from cat 4 to Quectel EM12-G cat 12), but mofi did not detect the new modem, as suspected. So I flashed the GoldenOrb from here and have WiFix ssid, with password that doesn't work 12345678. Cannot flash anything on now via LAN. Then windows decided to do an upgrade, my drivers stopped working. So I ordered a new usb LAN connector. Sounds alot like a Virus to me, but maybe not.

OpenWrt did not work either. Anyone have suggestions? BTW, the WE826-B and WE826-T flash files are the same file from OpenWrt.

When not in recovery mode and set with static IP it doesn't recognize the LAN as plugged in.

Something new, I tried to flash OpenWRT after leaving it unplugged for a few days, I get the M2m splash screen now on 192.168.1.1 with and without a Static IP. When I click on the router it times out. Any suggestions?
