Is EM12 good choice for international travel

I will be traveling through US, MX & Latin America plus short visits to EU and Australia, is the EM12 a good overall choice and are there any "gotchas" using a m.2 to usb case running on a cheap Golden Orb travel router? I see there are two style cases sold, USB 2/3 and it appears the modem supports both while I don't find any small travel routers with USB 3. Speed is not the overall goal and anything in the 5M range day to day is good with specific projects liking 20M a little better. Of course faster is always nice but my goal is the most providers per a single modem with the least headaches. Thanks.
