MOFI 4500 SIM8 seeks locked to WCDMA operational mode

Post by Marche01197 »

Apologies if I am not fluent in the nomenclature of this stuff but I'll give it a go. I have a Mofi 4500 sim8 model lte router. This is coupled with an ATT post paid plan.

APN: ATT broadband
TLL Linux 64
Firmware 1.2.4 latest I believe
Kernel version 3.10.14

I am located in CNY with a significant other on her own att plan for her phone. Works great etc. I have scanned the local att bands (see attached). I have a weboost rv 4g helping out (I've tried on and off.) Anywho the only apn I have been able to get any service has been broadband and when I do I can ONLY get service from WCDMA 850. It will not recognize ANY LTE service as being available. I don't know what else I can do. I've tried 3 different att plans post paid and pre paid. Am I losing my mind or is there something I can do to try and fix this speeds when they work are in the 2-3mbps up 0.7 down.

Does your phone get ATT 4G/LTE/5G service there?

Might force the modem into LTE only mode via AT commands. The SIM 8 is a Sierra MC7411 I believe.

Your weboost is not going to help with getting data.

Hi,

Did you find a solution?
I'm using the same Mofi model and running into the exact same issue with the AT&T 100GB Prepaid. Tried APNs NXTGENPHONE and BROADBAND, tested all available bands, did Sierra modem resets - but whatever band I lock at my Mofi, I always end up with "No Service" and only WCDMA works at super low throughput.
I tried it also with T-Mobile and Verizon SIMs and have no problems at all. So seems to be an AT&T specific issue.

Thanks!
