4x4 MIMO vs Twin 2x2's

I'm looking to implement a 4x4 MIMO antenna solution for a Quectel EM160R-GL modem. I already have a 2x2 directional panel antenna.
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on adding a second 2x2 vs buying an all in one 4x4. The cost difference is not that much. I'm more curious about the potential performance differences.
