Can't open device? Em7565 IN WG3526-P

Post by slog1915 »

Hello all i am using a Em7565 inside a WG3526-P it has worked fine for the last 2 months, woke up the other day to no internet, clues are as follows

-debug is spamming "/dev/ttyUSB1 Can't open device /dev/ttyUSB1"
-connection log shows the modem just disconnected itself in the early am
-All AT commands wont take and reply with "Can't open device /dev/ttyUSB1."
-no internet wifi or lan
-restarted via interface button, power cycling, and reset button on router
-sim works fine if removed and placed in tablet
-opened router, reseated modem, pcb looks good, antennas are still attached

Im at a loss here, any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks for the tip, still not working, i did the following

-reflashed router with sim/modem removed using firmware recovery method
-reflashed router a few times using web ui
-restarted
-ran AT!GSTATUS? still returns "Can't open device /dev/ttyUSB1."
-reinstalled modem/sim, reapplyed apn/ttl settings, restarted, still same issue

1? ive read wrong at commands can remove the AT command port, but does this ever do it on it own?, i havent uses the terminal in a couple weeks at least...

2? how do you verify if the at command port or modem is issue?

3? is there a way to reset modem without terminal access, and without m.2/usb/putty route(need to order)

You can putty into the router directly without a usb device. Just use the routers ip address and your web UI password. Send the RMA reset command there.

thanks, entering AT!ENTERCND="A710" AT!RMARESET=1 , both respond with ash: not found
is there a specific directory to enter in?

If you're using m. 2 adapter replace it. It occured to me with my em12-g. Waking up one time with log saying module not found. Replacing adapter worked.

When logged in via SSH, what commands are you sending to be able to send the AT commands to the modem?

Also what roddel007 said :)

I tried upper and lower case to no avail, all responded with NOT FOUND
ATI
AT!ENTERCND="A710"
AT!RMARESET=1
AT!RESET

got usb dongle in mail today, installed sierra wireless drivers, plugged in, forced on local echo/line, otherwise keystokes displayed as zeros, serialed into the com port, nothing populated on screen, ati responded with a indent of 2 zeros, inputed the same commands as above nothing happened, tried a couple more times, removed and reinstalled in router nothing changed, im assuming im either doing wrong or the modem is bricked somehow, gonna hit it hard in the am, thanks!

Think I figured it out, saw the name of modem in windows said qdloader, realized it somehow got stuck in qd loader mode, not sure what that is or why it happened, but I reinstalled modem drivers a few times, installed generic and then verizon firmware a couple times per Jims tutorial (https://wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=16 ... port#p1452)
(needed to run carrier f/w as admin)

Not sure if its signal strength or something amiss, but EMM state keeps bouncing all over the place, waiting on network, deregistering, initiating and what not, gonna research more, maybe find better spot to park the camper :D

Alright, switched from verizon f/w to generic
AT!ENTERCND="A710"
AT!IMPREF="GENERIC"
and solved emm state issues, reflashed router a couple times, and ive got internets again!! I hope this thread of me fumbling around learning might help some other noob someday.
Thanks all
