TMO WE826 and MC7455 Slow

Post by jmattivi »

Hello,

I've seen a couple other posts referencing slowness (0.2 avg down), but on other networks besides TMO.

I tested the sim in my phone and got 22 down, it consistently is below 1 down in the 826.

This is a brand new setup and followed the tutorials and troubleshooting.

I know the signal isn't great, but again the phone gets 22 down.

Any help or pointers is appreciated!
Thanks!!

What is your SINR? Should be the last line from the gstatus output, looks like it got cut off?

Are you testing indoors/outdoors? I'd recommend trying outdoors. B4 is gonna have a hard time penetrating your house.

sorry, was waiting for the post to approve and forgot these details....

firmware: GoldenOrb_2017-12-15

Wireless is disabled and connection for speed test is wired.

The router is currently indoors. I do have an outdoor antenna to connect, but am waiting on the cable/connectors. I just expected the download to be similar to that on the phone of 22 down rather than <500kb.

here's the full output.

Download and use this newer version of GoldenOrb.

First, remove SIM CARD.

Be sure and UNCHECK the SAVE SETTINGS box.

Once it is loaded, set your APN, TIME ZONE and PASSWORD.

Then go to NETWORK > FIREWALL > CUSTOM TTL SETTINGS and ENABLE for Value 65. SAVE & APPLY

Unplug power and wait a few seconds then power it back up.

See if that helps.

Based on those signal stats, and my experience with (band 2 on AT&T) you should have a pretty good signal boost just going outside with the same antennas, and even better with external dedicated antennas.

Hopefully that translates to faster downloads for you, and the tower is not congested.

I'd suggest following Jim's advice, hopefully that can sort out your odd issue.

Thanks!!!! I wasn't optimistic, but the wifix firmware did the trick!

I'm now getting ~15 down....beats 0.1. Hopefully once the antenna is hooked up, I'll be sitting good at that point.

Thanks again!

If you are using only one antenna, make sure it is hooked to the LTE antenna that goes to the MAIN antenna connector port on the MC7455.

Thanks for the heads up!

Still averaging ~ 10 down/1 up right now with the router in the basement (currently locked on band 4). Will post back the results of setting the external antenna up outside.

I was able to get the external antenna wired up and outside. I'm getting anywhere from 20-25 down right now.

Nice! I'd suggest getting a secondary antenna. You could potentially get double the download speed (upload will stay the same cause it only uses MIMO and one antenna).

Also, you'll have more signal diversity, so if your signal for some reason gets into a deep fade, it will still work.

Thanks Jim,

I was able to use this forum to get my WG3526 with the MC7455 working. I had been using a Verizon sim card form my work iPad and had no problems. But when I switched to a TMO sim card from another tablet my speeds were less than .5Mbs. After much searching I finally found these instructions,

NETWORK > FIREWALL > CUSTOM TTL SETTINGS and ENABLE for Value 65. SAVE & APPLY

Once I did this and rebooted my speeds went to 20Mbs up and 7Mbs down.
Thanks again,
Mike

Hello jmattivi,

Unless if I mistaken, you don't precised if you change the power supply from "12V 1A" to "12V 2A" ? Because I guess the Sierra EM7565 has an equivalent power consumption than the Sierra EM7455.

https://thewirelesshaven.com/shop/routers/lte-rou ... te-router/
"We strongly recommend upgrading to our top quality 12V 2.5A (30W) power adapter when using the Sierra Wireless EM7565 CAT12 modem. One must not underestimate the importance of providing adequate power to the router and modem."

I study that configuration because I try to flash my WE826-T for EM 7455, but I've a problem with the "software OpenWRT-OS-V1.0" which isn't allowing to have access to the root account. For the moment I wait for the seller answer, but I've doubts about his participation to fix the glitch...

I hope that will improved the quality of signal reception. My solution was to create an extension from my ATX computer power supply, but the WE826-T stay stuck.
