Can a modem be flashed while in a router?

Post by machy »

Hi! New here, can't seem to find an answer to this one. I have a WG1608 (ROOted) and an EM7511 modem. I have the EM7511 installed in the WG1608. The firmware on the EM7511 is a bit old, and I'd like to flash it to a newer version. Is there a way for me to flash the EM7511 with it installed in the WG1608, or must it come out of the WG1608 and be installed in a USB enclosure, flashed, and then reinstalled in the WG1608 again?

Thanks!

Yes look up qmi-firmware-update. I don't think it comes with ROOter firmware though. Try it and see.
