Quectel RM500Q-GL preliminary VS RM500Q-GL

Post by charlesrg »

Yes they both have the same names and both have mostly the same description. However one has 6 antenna connectors while the other has only 4.

Quectel don't have info on the version with 6 antennas only the standard
https://www.quectel.com/product/rm500q.htm

But some other places have, like this or this or ltemall

I was wondering if 4 LTE antennas aren't needed for 4xMIMO I thought each antenna would do one channel.

I've been trying to figure this one out, too.

There should be 4 hardware models based on Quectel's timeline:
 • ES (Engineering Sample)
 • CS (Commercial Sample 1)
 • CS2 (Commercial Sample 2)
 • MP (Mass Production)
The ES units are clearly labeled as Engineering Sample on the die. The other aren't.
I have a model that appears to be a "CS" or "CS2". 4 antenna ports, just labeled 0, 1, 2, 3. I'm itching it find out what they are.
