Before we go down this rabbit hole, I wanted to confirm you're aware that the "Unlimited High Speed Data" is actually: the first 15 GB is "High Speed Data" and then it's throttled to 2G

These TMo MVNOs are de-prioritized to begin with. This means that unless you live among horses like I do, you will have a tough time actually using the service for data.

Do some research into the TMo unlimited plans on eBay. They are just slightly higher $/mo but has well understood T&C.

That said, if you don't/can't get a refund on the current Hello Mobile plan, I can guide you through diagnostics but you will need to be comfortable with AT commands.

Either case, I will help.

Then you might just have come across a great deal with Hello Mobile.

How heavily do you use internet? At what volume (GB/Mo)?

I would need you to run a speed test atleast once a day for two weeks and each run will consume 40 - 50 MB

Also, describe what you mean by "havent been able to connect"

Excellent.

We will not use the WAN interface on the modem right now but have it connect out directly.

I just wanted to ensure you won't get frustrated through the whole process.

While I'm familiar with the Quectel AT commandset, the SW em7455 is new to me and you might have to lookup its AT commandset.

For example,

do these exist on the SW em7455:

AT+QIACT?
AT+QICSGP
AT+QPING

Could you try using minicom instead of the mm?
punkguy00017 wrote: Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:08 pm like u im more familiar with quectels
Then we have 2 options:

1. If you do have a quectel to swap in for the em7455, we can get this done real fast
2. Read up the SW em7455 AT commandset and help me translate the quectel commands

Essentially, we will set and activate the APN on the modem and then fire off pings and http get requests from it directly.

Once that's resolved, we will troubleshoot the WAN interface.

Ok, so this is new information. I assumed you could not get the hello mobile to work outside a phone period.

Now it seems you do have it working on your em20 too. SO the issue lies with the em7455

In that case, I will still help you but unfortunately I cannot use this/a public forum because some of the commands needed are restricted.

Are PM's working again?

I use a T-mobile plan direct from T-Mobile in an LTE router. I told them I was using it in a tablet. They gave me the Magenta Plus unlimited plan for tablets. Its like $50 a month. SimpleMobile should also work great for like $50 or $60 a month. BillA is our local SimpleMobile expert I think.

Isn't the Magenta Plus age qualified? I am not 55+

I don't care about hotspot allocations but I am still confused between the SimpleMobile $50 and $60 plans:

1. is the on device LTE handled any differently between the two plans?
2. does SimpleMobile still throttle to 20 Mbps up/down? Or you hit T-Mobile postpay speeds with diprio?

Ive not yet used SimpleMobile, so I cant answer. Im just parroting info on that.

The Magenta plan isnt the senior plan. Its a standard plan.

This could have been a great deal but I understand if you decided the time spent tinkering would not be good value enough.

What data provider do you have and any new ones you will look into?

I would be doing SImpleMobile and PagePlus myself.

currently using atnt Firstnet $30 bucks unlimited datafor a tablet i purchased so they dont get suspicious and already came activated and took out the sim and put it into my wg3526 and have not removed it since., and $45 bucks for cellphone and unlimited data which i sometimes take outta my phone and plug into one of my wg826 to download games and play online games. so if they find that im abusing my cellphone data then ill just cancel that one and still keep the tablet plan which i try not to abuse just stream tv and also i dont use the band 14 i know i could and get better download speeds.

The only difference between the SimpleMobile 50 and 60 plans is that the later comes with more hotspot data, which is useless anyway in a router, you can safely go with the 50 plan. As far as speeds, I get an average 100Mbps, higher speeds after midnight till the morning using a Quectel EP06-A modem with standard stick/whip antennas about a mile away from the tower. Using a CAT-20 modem I've seen speed upwards of 300Mbps. They probably do prioritize over postpaid customers, but it's negligible.

PagePlus would be a good choice, but just be aware of a 200GB high speed data limit per month, slow speeds thereafter till the next billing cycle starts. After doing some research, I found out that the data limit is imposed on them by Verizon, which they do on every other reseller too. Hope things will change in the future.
