1200mbps router

Post by bamabuck20 »

Got a 1200mbps silver dual band sim router from eBay. Brand is Kurte I believe. It's just like the KUWFI but doesn't have the KUWFI logo on it. I flashed the firmware to rooter with kangaroo logo from of modems and men website and now I need help setting it up with an att unlimited plan sim. I am planning on connecting 2 mimo antennas to the router (1 on each side) using 4 lmr 400 cables and 4 n female to sma male adapters to 2 dual sma female to sma male adapters. That way the two wires coming from each of the mimo antennas connect to the lmr 400 cables and those connect to the 4 adapters to the 2 adapters then screw into each antenna port on side of router. Please Help

Can we get a for sure make model? Might be easier if we can visualize the case and interfaces.

Do you know what modem it has inside and therefore/also what connectors the modem uses?

Does the router already have 4 LTE antenna connectors on its case, connected to the modem? (related to question one above)

Otherwise, firmware setup should be fairly straightforward. Likely just need to enter the APN and sync the timezone and current date and time data, then do a reboot. After that it's just a matter of troubleshooting the connection.
The APN is usally "broadband", without the quotes, for ATT. Depends on where the SIM is from, aka device and plan.

It has 6 antennas 2 2.4ghz, 2 5ghz, 2 4g. The 2 4g are the ones on each side I was gonna replace with 2 mimo antennas using lmr 400 cables and adapters to screw directly into the 4g ports. Would that be a good idea?

Ahhhh, ok! Its a whitelabeled ZBT WG3526! I have one as well, except modified for PoE power.

You'll have to pop the lid to look and see what modem is plugged into it. Its in a mpcie slot on the left side by the LEDs I believe.

Any idea what firmware is on the router? Also, all the adapters are not needed. You can buy cables with different connectors on each end. I mounted my wg3526 inside a directional flat panel dual mimo antenna. Keeps the antenna runs short, so the cable losses are at a minimum. My cables are justwant to pigtails from the modem, directly into the antennas. A LAN cable runs intothe the house from the unit, mounted on my roof.

Cables like these...
https://thewirelesshaven.com/shop/cables/antenna- ... al-cables/

All those connectors you were thinking of would just add more losses to an already inefficient system; antenna cabling.

I already have 4 lmr cables but they have n male connections on both ends so I need adapters to compensate. I have some of it figured out. I'm connected to band 2 5ghz and getting decent speeds but I'm about to move router closer to window. Any idea how to band lock to band 14? Any certain commands? Thanks for all ur input

Yes, but band locking the quectel isnt simple or straightforward.

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="band"
Will return the current band configuration. It should return the value
0x7FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
This is for all bands.

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="band",0,2000,0,1
SHOULD be band 14 only.

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="band",0,0x7FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF,0,1
SHOULD put it back to all

Here: https://wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=943 Is a writeup and XCEL spreadheet on the Quectel bands. ALWAYS run:

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="band"
BEFORE you make the first change, and record the output so you can put it back. Make a notepad file and copy and paste it in for ease of use.

A top end replacement would be the Telit LM960. With an adapter (mpcie to m.2 key b) you can get another Quectel, top end EM20, a little lower is the EM16, or lower the EM12. Sierra Wireless makes the EM7511, or the EM7565 is also popular and are equal to the EM12 from Quectel. The Sierra Wireless MC7455 will fit right into the router with no adapter and is a step up from the EC25 you have. I've gotten my MC7455 to run around 100Mbps in the same router you have. Your router can handle upward of at least 400Mbps from a modem, maybe more. The LAN is gigabit LAN, so it can handle up to at least 900Mbps.

There's tons of modems out there I know nothing of as well. :)

Which is best? The Ver A, B, or C for the Sierra Wireless MC7455? Found one that's 300mbps Ver C for $115 on eBay. Is that a decent price?

I'm not familiar with the different revisions to be honest. Hopefully someone else can chime i, or search through this forum for posts already made on the subject, in the past.

Those commands are for the Quectel EC25, and similar Quectel modems. The Sierra commands are different.

Code: Select all

AT+QCFG="band",0,7FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
That puts it back to all bands. Should at least.

So far my m1 nighthawk (used as modem only) connected via cat7 ethernet cable to my Netgear x4s router combo is out performing the WG3526 router with the quectel EC25 modem. Would the Sierra wireless 7511 modem be a better option or should I just sell it? Thanks

What antennas are you using on the WG3526? The Nighthawk M1 has excellent internal 4x4 mimo antennas and uses a cat16 modem, compared to your cat 4 modem. What it CANT do is use a quality directional 4x4 mimo directional anteanna, that the WG3526 can do.

Comparing apples to oranges :)

I was using a black square mimo directional antenna with lmr 600 cables. Seemed to help some. Got better speeds and performance with square mimo antenna than with antennas it came with! I'm selling my sim router cause I have 2 m1 nighthawk hotspot/router combos and they work good! I do have the latest rooter firmware on it so whoever buys it won't have to worry about that!
