Odd long response from AT!OPENLOCK? in a MOFI5500 with the SierraWireless EM7690

Post by memog1 »

Hi all,
I am working toward repairing the IMEI on my MOFI 5500 and am looking for some help getting the encryption key. From everything I have seen, it looks like the response to AT!OPENLOCK? is normally a 16 character hex code but I get a huge one.

AT!OPENLOCK?
0001,!OPENLOCK,DA6BA3E330F0F07579B9F484B6186E2251CE3FA8C5B4D0304DB727F78E8A178B9

Is that normal? If so, can anyone provide me with the key I am supposed to input with AT!OPENLOCK=xxxxxx. I know I am supposed to use the sierrakeygen but I would like to avoid taking apart my router to get the modem out and put it in my USB enclosure.

Thanks!

You don't need to take it apart to use the keygen, just copy and paste the output. You can also factory reset the modem to bypass the lock, I've heard. I haven't done it myself.

Thanks. I gave it a shot using AT!OPENLOCK="DA6BA3E330F0F07579B9F484B6186E2251CE3FA8C5B4D0304DB727F78E8A178B9" and had no luck. I then factory reset the modem via AT!RMARESET=1. I rebooted my MOFI and now, unfortunately, it keeps getting "Carrier registration failed". I have confirmed my APN settings are correct and have tried 2 different SIM cards, both of which were working fine before the reset. Is there some other setting I need to set after a factory reset?

Probably wiped out our firmware and carrier configs. You'll have to reflash the Generic firmware to the modem.

AT!IMAGE? and AT!IMPREF? and AT!GSTATUS? will tell a lot.

Sorry for the delay. I was able to get the firmware flash tool running natively on the MOFI 5500. I had to use an emulator to run Debian on MIPSEL arch and was able to compile my own version that worked on MIPSEL which is what the router runs on. It makes some progress but fails with the following message at the end of the log:

<log value="ERROR: Failed to run the last command -1" /></data>

[1674][7]read timeout
[1674][7]payload [0]

[1674][7]Lite9x07Download Rx:

[1674][7]Send Empty Block
[1674][7]Send Empty Block Done
[1674][7]payload [232]

[1674][7]Lite9x07Download Rx:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<data>
<log value="ERROR: Failed to parse xml, error at offset 506, 512" /></data><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<data>
<log value="ERROR: Failed to run the last command -1" /></data>

I'm going to open a new thread for the issue since it does not really correspond with the subject.
