WG3526/EM12G Modem Timeout Error

Post by JRod89 »

I’m working on this router for a family I setup with router and plan a little over a year ago. It is a WG3526/EM12G on AT&T, upgraded 3A power supply. It is acting like the modem and router are having issues communicating with each other! Worked great for a year or so then they complained about constantly needing to reboot to get usable connection. I brought it home, accessed the GUI to see that the modem shows a Timeout Error, I upgraded firmware to GoldenOrb_2021-02-20 Wifix release. I flashed 3 times, unchecking the “keep settings” box each time. It is still having the same issue. The modem is connecting because it will provide internet via WiFi, but in the Network status, most everything in “General Information” and “Modem/Sim information” does not display as seen in pic. “Signal information” and “Cell information” periodically display, then will drop out and not display anything. Speedtest is slower than my comparable WG3526/EM12G that is fully functional on the same firmware build. The “Cellular Mode” shows as automatic now without option to change to 4G only like I initially configured it. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Which firmware version is on the modem? Have you flashed it up to the latest? Maybe done a factory reset on it?

It’s currently running on GoldenOrb_2021-02-20. On the router, not sure on the modem.... I downloaded and installed WiFiX-NEXP1GO-GO2021-09-11, but I was having issues with getting the wifi to work on that version. I then factory reset the router and re-installed GoldenOrb_2021-02-20 from the Chinese GUI. I currently have connection monitoring enabled with modem reconnect and it will run for 5-30 minutes, then reconnects according to the connection log. How do you perform a factory reset on the modem?

This router has only ran in MBIM that I know of, guess I could try setting it to QMI. I’m also wondering if it could be that the Mini PCI-E to M.2 adapter is causing issues?

It's possible on the adapter.

The router can run either mbim or qmi modems, as well as ecm.
