WE826-T2 with Quectel EP06 on Sprint

I have a WE826 I bought here a couple years ago and it works fine. We have a second connection now (both from Calyx) but the wifi on the hotspot is too weak... after looking everywhere for another wifix WE826 all I could find was a new WE826-T2 with a quectel modem on ebay. It said it works with Sprint.

I can't connect. The firmware is not the same as my wifix model. It's a blue background and says version 19.1101. I tried updating to the (WiFiX-WE826GO-custom-GO2020-05-16 and we826-GO2020-03-01) firmware here but it won't do it, says "incorrect model."

It shows SIM/IMEI numbers, the SIM works in the other router. The signal strength is from 74-100%, I'm using an external antenna pointed at the tower, the other hotspot gets the same speeds as when I drive over and sit directly at the cell tower so I know it's not a weak signal.

All the dates on the logs are November 2019. I thought I saw somewhere that this could be a problem, but I found nowhere to be able to set the time.

I've spent hours and hours searching the web and trying any variation on many settings that I could, factory resets, etc, still no luck. I also could not find anywhere in the interface where I can input AT commands.

Did you hold the reset button down, plug the router into power to get to the boot menu to load the firmware. The blue firmware is the default firmware and if memory services, does not allow for TTL, firewall and other advanced modificaitons.

Yes you might have to the boot loader method on this.

Second advice is this.
Sorry don't make sense but has worked for me in the past. Upload this firmware to it instead.

lede-ramips-mt7620-zbt-we826-t-20200814_142235.bin

Now this firmware it isn't what you want at all. But once it is installed then try to load your firmware that you want.
Then you shouldn't get the "incorrect model" thing.
