Re: Quectel EP06 - CA band question
You could try locking it by Cell-ID's, to have full control over which bands to be the primary/secondary in a CA session. However, the tower may still decide the priority depending on the carrier and equipment used. The commands below will work on the newer Quectel EM16/EM20/R500Q models, but will l...

Yes the Netgear LBll20 is a LTE only modem no WiFi. Very simple Category 4 modem. Added a apn to it to to be just IPV4 no IPV6. That LTE modem is fed into the Wan port of a TP-LINK AC1900. Gotta add the APN manually via AT commands, they should persist after power cycles and reboots: The custom AT-command itself does persist on restarts, but the firmware's internal script keeps interfering with the IP version. As far as antenna amplifiers/boosters, while they do in fact boost dB signal levels ("bars"), they also introduce "RF noise" which interferes with high speed data along with higher latency (ping times). Usually low end/cheap boosters (<$200) will have higher SNR (Signal to Noise ...

That's a known issue in OpenWRT, where the startup script overwrites it at each restart.
The only way around it is by manually editing the /usr/lib/rooter/connect/create_connect.sh file as described here:

Re: PagePlus & non-VoLTE devices
Hey BillA, Just curious if you have heard any more about this? I'm trying to figure out if I should start looking at other options. Thanks! I have already addressed that issue, here it is again: You can disregard that message from PagePlus, it only affects VoLTE (Voice Over LTE calls) if you're usi...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter
I'm trying to bond two Verizon LTE connections, but the speed and latency are terrible. One of the Verizon connections (WAN1) passes the Multipath test. The other (WAN2), which is a Hotspot plan attached to a WG1608 running Rooter, times out. Do I need to add/enable TCP Multipath on the WAN2 Rooter...

Re: Receive text messages sent to mofi?
What app is that!? There are lots of SMS forwarding apps in the PlayStore. It will allow you to forward SMS/text messages from an Android phone to any other phone including a router. Keep in mind that the app has to be running on the phone in the background at all times for this to work. If...

Re: StarLink satellite internet service by SpaceX
Cost wise, I'm looking at either $20/mo for ATT or $10/mo for Mobile Citizen (unless I get stuck using Calyx). Both will easily pay for the modem over Starlink. However, I already have two modems anyway haha so spending more for more speed is simple data greed. With your relatively low cost mobile ...

Re: WE826-T2 Quactel EP06-A W/ Verizon
Update, It seems to be doing the same thing as the EP06-A. So I assume it will be something with the router or the carrier at this point. I can do alot on it but some websites and speedtest.net will not work on my PC but will work on my phone. Seems to be some kind of APN/DNS issue. Delete the APN ...

Is there a way to roam to a specific network? I've got Sprint, but I would like to use T-Mobile's bands since Sprint can roam on T-Mobile. Using a WE826. Even if you lock the band(s) to Tmobile, the sim card tells the phone or modem whether or not it's allowed to register on that network, in other ...

Cricket/Metro/Simple all have truly unlimited for $50/month, and they include 5G at no additional cost (course y...

I can confirm as well. Band 41, 25, and 26 in some areas are straight GONE, or neutered. It may come back, but Tmobile is wreaking havoc on the Sprint networks. You should get on Sprints online chat feature for tech support and ask for the status of your tower. I can confirm that today when I locke...

Re: New ZBT WG1608 5G-ready router + GoldenOrb firmware
Where u get the 3amp power supply from? Amazon or Ebay, just don't get the "cheap stuff" which usually doesn't deliver the full 3Amps and has poor filters. Gotta spend at least $20-30 bucks for a high quality adapter with a 5mm outer diameter connector, and a (+) middle. You could also us...

Re: New ZBT WG1608 5G-ready router + GoldenOrb firmware
There is one more possibility: do you have a good power supply? If you are using the OEM 2amp one, then you need to upgrade to 2.5amp (12v = 30 watt) instead, because that specific modem sucks up a lot of power. Those EM20-G modems are all Engineering Samples, they never went to full production and...

Thank you. I ended up buying a SIM8200EA-M2 and Quectel RM500Q. I'll let everyone know what I'm able to figure out. There seems to be some confusion about the band capabilities of the new 5G RM500Q-xx and SIM8200xx-M2 modems. Note that the Quectel RM500Q-"AE" must be version "AE"...

I know this is an older guide, I but I used it to solve an issue I was having. Would I still be able to use OpenVPN on this setup or do I have to have dhcp, etc. turned on to do so? DHCP has to do with assigning local IP's to your connected devices. A VPN is used to established an encrypted connect...

The small internal antennas of the Tmobile Home internet box is by design to limit you from high speed/usage on their network. ;D There are plenty of other hardware and service alternatives to that box (https://wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?p=5790#p5790).

Try running the latest firmware version WG1608-GO2020-12-02, it usually contains bug fixes. https://www.ofmodemsandmen.com/upload/WG1608-GO2020-12-02.zip The EM16 is a new modem, and probably will come with the latest firmware anyway.
