It's likely that that specific modem isn't in the routers PID database so the firmware has no clue what it is.

Let us know if you get one running in pure pci mode. I'd love to find a working solution for this particular subject.

Did you receive the new Visible SIM? They use Verizons network directly now. This requires IMEI matching and the APN: vzwinternet

Visible has started changing the APN of their services to verizon networks. It seems they are doing away with their old 3rd party server proxy way.

Means you should expect to see coverage outdoors.

If it matches other modems of similar design its likely that the outer two connectors are your primary pair, but without a hardware design manual, it's likely impossible to know for sure what is intended.

You could use a modem adapter with SIM slot and see if the router will read the sim from there. You may still have a sim slot issue. If AT+ICCID returns ( or AT!ICCID? Clarify for me. I am not familiar with the adb shell of the Quectel modems, at all ... are you running the ping from the host device command line here/above or is that via the adb shell? The gateway address on the routing table confuses me, as you are attempting to ping an external address (8.8.8.8)...

With adapter you could fit a 5G modem in there. Cat22. I've never spent any time on the WG1602, I heard it was not a good performer at all.

If this 0 Ohm resistor isn't there as a jumper, then you have the hardware watchdog turned ON. If the resistor is there, you're good.

There may be a hardware watchdog present that is not seeing the connection, causing the wan0 to ifdown/ifup.

Does your wg1608 have the watchdog enabled?

The modem firmware and the router firmware are separate. Both can be independently updated. You can update the router with no effect to the modem, and with no issue due to any modems presence.

I don't have an answer to your initial questions, but..... Problem is your not going to get a public IP from your modem, because it doesn't know it. It is assigned a CGNAT IP that is internal to the carrier network. The network will route out your traffic and exit from one of their IPs, dynamically....

You may need to load ATT firmware on the modem. Might try Generic or ATT.

You're certain you have the bands available on your tower that the 7700 supports? (2, 4, 17)

Depends on the firmware, but the CLI way is using the commands:

opkg update

then

opkg install modemmanager

requires some form of internet conneciton (WAN is easiest)

Make sure you have all bands unlocked.

If nothing else has changed, you may have a SIM account issue. Is the IMEI matching the original device, or was the LT18 registered directly?
