You may have to remove it do get a better look at the bottom side layout. There are probably 24 pins, 12 of which you cannot see..?

Re: Nighthawk M1 Removing metal shields on back of PCB to replace Type C port

I don't think those are through the board. They are small filter caps more than likely. What you are seeing between the 2 existing caps are pads for what looks like another cap that did not get installed for whatever reason. The USB connector will have 4 soldered mount points roughly at the 4 corner...

Re: Wish me luck...

Yes, let us know how it pans out. Fyi, the ports on the RM50xQ-AE don't play nice when it comes to Tmo's bands either. This Quectel modem has the 4 ports. Ports 0, 1, 2 and 3. Ports 1 and 2 are the "low" band ports for frequencies of 600Mhz and up so those 2 ports are the only ports that y...

Can you ping or nslookup using the built in network utilities under /Network/Diagnostics ? If not you may try to kill power to the entire setup and let it reboot to start. Sometimes just rebooting doesn't actually reset/restart the modem. After it boots try to ping again. If still nothing then I wou...

I think you are on the right path, just a bunch of trial and error. I've seen the same. From all of my trials, it will randomly connect to B71, B12 etc for the 4G primary, but it will latch on for a bit and get booted off as the tower does not like it for whatever reason. I'm fairly confident that its the tower that is the culprit. B2/n71, B66/n71 or B66/n41 are Tmo...

One other thing, I keep forgetting that the signal stats that show for Quectel 5G modems in rooter are incorrect. Re: Building Home WI-FI

In situations like yours I think the ultimate goal would be to get an external antenna up as high as you possibly can. Best bet is above the tree line with direct line of site to the tower. In determining which antenna I would start with the provider and cellmapper. Use cellmapper to get an idea of ...

Re: What's your ideal OVERKILL setup?

I believe OMR does support direct connections, however, I'm not sure if it can handle multiple as i've never tried. Also the OMR box is already extremely busy with everything else so I'd recommend keeping the modems separate. It all depends on how fast you want your setup to go really. LTE equipment...

Re: What's your ideal OVERKILL setup?

I have between 4 to 5 LTE modems running at any given time. They all plug into the Protectli running OMR. Example Modem/router setup: WE1326 router with internal EM7565 modem RBM33G router with internal EM20G modem WRT32X router connected to RBM502Q-AE modem in USB3 enclosure connected to WRT32X usb...

Re: EM160R-GL antenna pin outs?

Good point. I didn't think of that. Matter of fact there are A LOT of settings in Quectel modems that are handled in this way. You must first 'enable' the ability to change a setting to be able to actually change the setting. IMO, the most important command for checking signal strength/integrity see...

Re: What's your ideal OVERKILL setup?

The H721 may have a capable internal slot as that is one of the few I've not tested. I will say this however, these new modems are power hungry lil turds and in my personal experience, I've had trouble with about every setup with the random disconnects and such. Most of the time these modems are des...

Re: What's your ideal OVERKILL setup?

I love the idea of the RBM33G, but I've heard people have SO MUCH trouble w/ getting either ROOTer or OpenWRT on it. Same for you? No trouble here after figuring out what is trying to get accomplished. If you know how to use ssh and have a spare router around with rooter/GO installed you should be ...

Re: What's your ideal OVERKILL setup?

I doubt anyone has tested all the different routers, but if you had a resource with your opinions on the ones you have tested, that would be SUPER useful. Could you share any highlights from your experience so far, good and bad? Uh lets see. My first was the WE1326. She's still in use with an EM756...

Re: What's your ideal OVERKILL setup?

As far as bonding goes, I'm fond of the Protectli Vault 4 running OMR. As far as modem setups, a modem in the usb 3 enclosure plugged into a WRT32X running rooter/goldenorb is by far the fastest/snappiest I've tested. I've not tested all of the different routers for rooter/GO but I've dabbled in my ...

Re: EM12G - Smart Device Connection Issue

Were you able to figure out which protocol both were running in and try switching the new modem to the same protocol as the old modem from Didneywhorl's suggestions? Sometimes it can be as easy as that but that be to easy right. If you can, try to post system logs of both and we can try to compare a...

Re: EM12G - Smart Device Connection Issue

Sounds like a DNS issue. Typically smart devices like to look up and phone home using there own settings and path. You might look at DNS settings between the 2 and see if something is changing that is causing the problem?

Re: Add a second internal router behind my NEXQ6GO-U

You shouldn't have to change any settings on either router. Set everything back to the way it was and all that should be needed is a regular cable from a "LAN" port of the internet router to the "WAN" port of the Netgear router. This creates double NAT situation but it shouldn't ...

Simple Mobile is T-Mobile. They also work in other devices than phones. Think their unlimited plan is around the $50 mark. Not sure exact devices they work in but I've moved mine around quite a few times. They use their own APN portal "simple" but I don't care for the extra MVNO hops or an...

Re: Single or 2 15dbi mimo antennas is there a difference?

I looked up the cell tower it’s less than a mile but it’s through heavy woods. It’s showing bands 5, 13 and 66. Are any of those 5G bands? Not sure what constitutes 5G but my router switches from lte to 5G. Hope that helps. Thanks Macusers Close proximity is a MAJOR plus for sure. Woods is gonna be...

Re: Single or 2 15dbi mimo antennas is there a difference?

I too have one of the linked wilsons and was fairly happy with its performance. Unfortunately it was one of my first purchases and is located up past my 'climb limit' on my outside antenna so not much testing was done with it, lol. I did have good luck with it on ATT setup for what its worth. Might ...

Re: Single or 2 15dbi mimo antennas is there a difference?

Lucky you! Vzw 5G isn't that wide spread from what I know around my parts but anxiously waiting on that as it will be my next go-to setup. No too familiar with the M5 but on the older MR1100 you had the ability to enable telnet and could log into and run some AT commands to show CA aggregated bands ...

Great idea for those that leave their setups alone and not redo / reinstall / reflash / reset things every other day lol. But yes, if I ever get to the point I can leave things alone it would be a great way to track it!

Re: Slow Speeds on RM502Q-AE

I thought the same but logged in yesterday or day before and I had 'LTE' connection but no packets were permitted past my assigned IP from the provider. Also, its hard to tell exact limit numbers too as their software logs 'per day' so when you look at your used bandwidth numbers it shows the past 3...

Re: more than one connected device modem disconnect

Don't think you are being ignored here, just that most here are using wifix/goldenorb setups or routers and do not use a setup such as yours. Sounds like your setup is based more along the lines of a single client system? If I was to guess it sounds like your setup is passing all clients directly to...

Re: Single or 2 15dbi mimo antennas is there a difference?

IMO, 2 is better than one, however, if both antenna's are identical then i'd guess the combined antenna would be very similar. Having 2 singles you could spread them out or point in slightly different directions for 'better' diversity but I wouldn't think you would gain much. I guess it all depends ...
