Re: Great DL, Terrible UL - any ideas on a better antenna setup?
Stayaway from the booster, they boost the signal, but they also boost the noise. A GOOD antenna setup is the way to go. The parabolic grid antenna is the king of antennas But most lack the skills or patience to get them to work. Since you have line of sight to the tower this will help! Think of this...

Re: Antenna upgrade for booster?
I would agree 100% The problem with boosters are they can increase your signal but they also increase the noise, so your signal/noise ratio is poor. So the quality of the data being sent is poor…. Slower Would start with good antennas, YES more than one. Need MIMO MIMO, a technology for optimizing t...

The Orbi 4G LTE Advanced Tri-band Router (LBR20) Would also be good a good pick. Could use it as a WiFi router when you get cable. The equipment that Xfinity is going to "give" your will be crap. The LBR20 just came out. I have not used, it but it looks cool. https://www.netgear.com/Orbi/L...

Have been thinking of doing the same thing. I have internet / cable and use the MoFi for road trips. I was going to add the MoFi to my router as a back for the cable internet. Re: MoFi 4500 and AT&T
The MoFi is not a hotrod of the modems, but I have gotten 78Mbps DL / 31Mbps Up (AT&T, Band-2, sitting in front of the tower). You just need to find the correct cell carrier, cell tower and band! For me B71 is more about reach and being stable, the low 600HHz is better for traveling through tree...

Re: Mofi 4500 sim 7 throttled by visible
It would be best to get a baseline of the MoFi working at it’s best. I would order a car power adaptor for the MoFi and bring the unit to the Cell tower of your dreams. Do a band scan, and a speed test, run the speed test three times and get an average. Take good notes, would like to see Could be th...

Re: MOFI4500 / T-Mobile VS. Verizon Confusion. Fast Vs. Slow
Had the same thing happen to me!! 8-) There is a long story but here is the short one. It’s NOT your SIM or Modem the problem is with the Cell Tower. Trust but verify what I am saying. Take your MoFi on a road trip to other Cell Towers in your area. You will need a power adaptor for your car to powe...

I would remove the MoFi, WiFi from the equation. 8-) Plug an ethernet cable into the LAN and connect to a computer. For your speed test What day, and time of day of speed test. Re: Multiple Sim Cards
You need to work with a MVNO, most are a little sketchy and they have "membership" plans. I have been using OTR, but they dropped T-Mobile, which is my only hope, with band-71, 600MHz. OTR now only has AT&T I am going to give No Limit Data a try. They have both AT&T and T-Mobile Th...

Re: Multiple Sim Cards
Ya, also think one SIM would be the way to go. You can get 900GB for ~ $100 a month Are you lock into Sprint or are you open to the other carriers? I an thinking that T-Mobile may kill the old Sprint plans. May want to start thinking of a backup plan. But the do make modems with 4SIM, The cost is $1...

1. I have not worked with the ZTE 700, but I would guess, NO for band lock. The MoFi 4500 SIM7 has band lock and other tools like band scan, to scan and report on all the available bands in your area. 2. Looks like your Band-12 is very strong and Band-2 is week. Think you will need to band lock to g...

Re: Please need help setting purchasing new setup
I would agree, and was thinking the the same thing, their web site does not even have HTTPS encryption. That is why I used Amazon to get my unit. The company has the feel of working out of their garage. Sure you can built your own unit that is cheaper, but I would argue the MoFi is still a good star...

Re: MOFI4500 / T-Mobile VS. Verizon Confusion. Fast Vs. Slow
It’s getting harder to a 4G modem/hotspot onto a carriers network with the Cell Phone or iPad SIM trick. Sadly they are onto that game. I have setup a MoFi 4500 SIM7 with T-Mobile but used an after market MVNO the SIM/plan that cost a $100 month for 900Gig of data. ~20Mbps DL ~10Mps (Very rural area...

Have you looked at the MoFi? I have both the Nighthawk M1(MR110) & MoFi 4500 SIM7 On paper the Nighthawk is a better unit, Cat 16 Modem with WiFi-5,AC MoFi is a Cat-6 Modem with WiFi-4,N There are Pros & Cons for both units You can add external antennas (MIMO) easier to the MoFi, it has SMA ...

Need to do more than just pop in a SIM. Can you explain what you did for the setup of the MoFi?
Make sure you have the correct APN is selected (Access Point Name )
For T-Mobile its “T-Mobile (New) (fast.t-mobile.com) (USA)"
