Re: Newbie exploring options...

I can't elaborate more than the what Firstnet has in their restrictions area where they say that the devices must be AT&T Firstnet approved. I will say that AT&T is cracking down on non-compliant sim card usage. That the days of taking phone sims (with unlimited data plans) and transferring ...

Re: Newbie exploring options...

Firstnet seems to be for emergency responders. And there is a lot of other requirements that might not be something that could be used by a ordinary absentee home owner. I am sure it is band 14 from the description and only AT&T approved devices would be allowed.

Re: Thanks for the Forum!

Playing about with this today it seems the stock antennas give the best overall internet speed. That is not as good as I already had with my Netgear LB1120 running a Cricket Simply Data plan. Why the Red pocket AT&T setup is not as good as the Cricket AT&T setup I do not know. I could swap i...

Re: Antenna information, options, help please

The subject of getting a wireless data only connection at your home is a bit complex. First off does your cell phone provide you with a good data connection? You can find what the readings are usually in the settings area and under the system >About phone and than sim card status. Mine for instance ...

What should the modem settings be in GoldenOrb?

I don't see a Tutorial here for modem setup other than rather basic getting started. What I have is a WG3526 with a Sierra EM7565 cat 12 modem running GoldenOrb firmware. My question is based on I notice when I power on the router/modem it does not seem to connect to the wireless carrier until I bri...

Re: Thanks for the Forum!

I am running LTE now. Are all my woes behind me? We will see. Crickets Simply Data plans are not throttled. Red Pocket are supposedly not also but AT&T is sneaky bastards. As of March this year Cricket introduced 40GB for $50/mo. and 20GB for $35/mo, I am on the 20GB plan. It is like a firehose ...

Re: Thanks for the Forum!

No problem. To try to explain it all better. Red Pocket sells data only plans good for a month at a time utilizing AT&T as the carrier. They are supposed to be LTE. and not speed limited although they are not prioritized like a normal AT&T customer. After first setting up my new router/modem...

Re: WG3526 with EM7565 no 4G

After leaving on the modem/router overnight I rebooted this morning and "Bam" it is now in LTE reception. Amazing how something as simple as having your provider not set the SIM card up right can cause error that you tear your hair out over. at!gstatus? !GSTATUS: Current Time: 345 Temperat...

Re: WG3526 with EM7565 no 4G

Update. After trying a few things out I decided to tryout the sim in my LB1120 and sure enough it came up 3G there as well. So after putting back in my Cricket sim and having it stuck in 3G. I was frustrated to say the least. However after deleting and redoing the APN the LB1120 with the Cricket dat...

Re: WG3526 with EM7565 no 4G

If I try selecting 4G only it will not connect. It attempts to over and over until I switch back to the Automatic selection. BTW this EM7565 is stock with no changes to it by me other than using the Red Pocket APN (Reseller) and some AT commands for information.

Re: WG3526 with EM7565 no 4G

I have put the sim card in a phone an it came up with 4G so it is not likely a function of the sim card. After reinstalling into router and restarting I still only connect in HSPA+ at!gstatus? !GSTATUS: Current Time: 491 Temperature: 45 Reset Counter: 1 Mode: ONLINE System mode: WCDMA PS state: Atta...

Re: Thanks for the Forum!

Yes it is a AT&T plan. I have used them before with my LB1120 to get 4G LTE in the past. I can try out this new sim in a spare phone I have to see if it connects 4G. BTW I have started a Thread in the Sierra modem area with questions concerning setting it up. ETA: The sim does give 4G connection...

WG3526 with EM7565 no 4G

I have put together a new modem/router setup and this has been the steps so far. Flashed the WG3526 with the latest GoldenOrb firmware. Installed adapter card to pcie to m.2 modem and installed EM7565 modem. Was able to start up and have my SIM recognized (GSMA from Red Pocket Data only sim) however...

Thanks for the Forum!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the information here on setting up a modem router. I have just got in a WG3526 and I am going to attempt to make it work with a EM7565 modem. I would have liked to buy it from Wifix but they have had online ordering shutdown for quite some time now. It was my first ...
