Re: What is the use of GPS function in LTE modem cards?

What is the use of GPS function in LTE modem cards? I have seen that most if not all of them offer GPS capability. What is the use for GPS and if I have an LTE router with a GPS capable modem, how will I benefit from this? I have an Amazon Fire Tab, which, because of the price point, Amazon did not...

Sending the Router back. Piece of Amazon Junk. Did you receive it and tried it at all? It may not be all that bad, lots of people use it as their primary internet. Re: What is USB Port on WE826 used for?

msharp wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 6:11 pm Probably a dumb question, but what is the USB port on the WE826 used for? Can it be used as a network share?

Instead of using an internal radio/modem, the usb port also allows you to tether your phone to the router to act as an external modem.

Re: WE826 vs Netgear Nighthawk M1 Hotspot

Hello, I am trying to find the pros and cons between these two LTE routers. What I keep tripping up on is the thought of, "what is so wrong with using a hotspot for a long term router solution?" This is specifically occurring to me with the CAT 16, 4-band CA and 4x4 MIMO functionality tha...

Re: Command To See Active Bands Available?

I have looked & found how to change what band the modem searches through, locking bands, & selecting multiple bands for Carrier Aggregation. However, I have not found any information on the results of the modems scanning the bands. I assume there is a command to show what the modem actually...

Re: Trouble Connecting to Sprint

Props to Habituallimit for having the patience of getting his router to work on Sprint. With Sprint, it would be easier to simply tether a working phone via usb to the router to act as a modem, no fuss no muss. lol Sprint and MetroPCS are the only two carrier in the US which still require you to pro...

Hello Jim! I worked on this today and had some learning experience but mostly success! First think I worked through your tutorial and reloaded all four firmwares (just so they would be most updated), ending with the generic -- and did them twice. Put everything back together and it worked. I decide...

Yes, I believe so. I want to try this myself soon, just haven't had the time yet. I plan to do a guide in the future when I do this. Re: WG3526 with EC25AF on T-Mobile Questions.

Hi, 1. You can lock them, but you're just telling the modem to use a specific set of bands. The modem's firmware is programmed in the factory to always seek out the strongest signal automatically (even as it changes throughout a day), and that's just what you want. Keep in mind, that you CANNOT forc...

Yeah I could see it is not for everyone but for the value it's great. I do have the generic firmware but there is no instructions to flash it, of course. There is one for its little brother T77W676 for linux with fastboot mode via AT command. But that's no use since you can't communicate via comm p...

Egg-cellent, all crystal clear now! :)
These multiple firmware slots are probably unique to Sierra modems, because I've never seen anything like that on other modems.

All these "restrictions" are not my cup of tea (unknown/restricted AT commands, having to flash it in a Dell laptop, etc)... if we could only flash it with generic firmware (if it even exists at all), that would make it a kick-ass modem.

You get an error because your modem's hardware doesn't support that band.
Keep in mind you can only set the bands which are supported by your modem's hardware.

Re: Sierra Wireless Modems - Selecting the Preferred Carrier Firmware

When you say "carrier's firmware", do you mean a carrier profile with preset band values, or an actual firmware flash file?
Don't we just use the "generic" firmware anyway in most cases?
Hope this could clarify it for everyone.

Your phone's data and speed limits should be same even when you insert your SIM card into a router. However, if you have a limited "hotspot" plan, then the router may be able to bypass it (mostly has to do with the TTL settings). So you might be able to bypass your 20GB hostpot limit and g...
