It might be that the thermo is setup to be pinged externally and not as a "man on the inside", and since cellular wireless uses CGNAt, there is no public facing IP. Maybe? I'm guessing that is why one brand would work for someone and the other wouldn't?
Just spitballing.

Re: Upgrade for a MF279?
The M1 can be the lowest cost for the most performance if you have a straight drop in hotspot SIM card, but I wouldn't buy any used ones. Most are Blacklisted by ATT; or at the least get a guarantee on it and an foolproof way to get a refund if needed. Otherwise I would go with a modifiable openWRT ...

There is a firewall log i believe, and rooter is openWRT based so you can pretty much install any openWRT package on it. I've never done traffic analysis myself.

Upgraded to 2.5A yes. The manufacturer tries to ship them with 1.5A power supplies. Those are rated for cat 12 and maybe cat 16 modems. I always like a little extra. Especially when modem drop outs present themselves. n41, if I recall correctly, is one of the most power hungry bands.

I would set all bands back to unlocked then power cycle the router. See what happens. If it still acts goofy, I would turn off n71, and maybe b71. See how it works. ATT, Verizon, and Tmobile all still have unlimited tablet plans (business accounts usually are the simplest). Typically it's best to get ZERO hotspot on the plan. This make it easier to understand if you're using hotspot or not. Since there is no hotspot, it either works or it doesn't.

Re: Calyx Orbi and Nest Protect
This is a tough one. So many variables. Likely the issue is a firewall issue not allowing the nest products to ping the home server, or vice versa, via IPV4 or IPV6 (ICMPv6). VPN services do not use IPv6, so that is likely the fail there if it has to be transmitted over IPv6. The latest routers use ...

Re: EM9191: SIM not inserted
Hear me out all the way to the end, please. :) No, not the same. Different industry, different treatment of parts, different costs, different expectations of equipment, etc etc. You also don't place a PC in the sun and rain to test and use it. Also, PCs have a different benchmark not affected by loc...

Re: EM9191: SIM not inserted
The issue is the use of the bundle requires modifying the components. It's a customized build to get it all together. You can't return something like that because it's custom by default just to use it properly. You can definitely sell it, but return a product with holes drilled in it and parts stuck...

Re: EM9191: SIM not inserted
@Didneywhorl Thank you very much for the information. I didn't mean to put you in a bad spot I just thought you may have tested other antennas and maybe had an idea for an alternative with similar gain if I couldn't get the high beam mimo antenna. Does the equipment have a return policy if it doesn...

Re: NEXS2GO with EM160R-GL Need Help Making it Work on Verizon
I would turn off the PDP contexts: AT+QMBNCFG="autosel",0 ...and make sure you are using MBIM mode: AT+QCFG="usbnet",2 Then power cycle the router. Then when back, double check the Profiles. Shouldn't need all of those. The router itself isn't doing much other than supporting the...

Re: EM9191: SIM not inserted
@Didneywhorl , Very much appreciated, still thinking about what antenna I want to go with. I wanted to get something like the high beam 2x2 mimo antenna to maximize signal gain but like you said previously its not available. Do you have any recommendations for a similar product? I know of the 2x2 a...

Performance-wise there is no difference. Bands wise, the GL supports less bands overall. You can check their stats side by side on the Quectel website. Overall its just the Stand alone 5G bands if I recall correctly. Country of use shouldn't matter with Quectel, I think. Might be safer with the GL.

Re: LBR Lost connection completely.
The first part sounds like they figured out you had a non-hotspot plan in the router, then you go on to say its a hotspot plan! I would say the SIM has gone bad. Verizon shows the hotspot plan not activated and wont allow it to be? You may just need them to re-issue you a SIM card. The LBR20 is on t...

Re: How to set up NEXQ6GO-M to failover from copper to cellular?
Good video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHWYH_5ooEY You will need MWAN3. If that is not in your firwmare build, you can try and add it, or if that fails ask wireless haven for a version with MWAN3 in it, or ask the Rooter guys for a version of firmware that works with your router with MWAN3...
