Re: T-Mobile Gateway. 7.5 miles from tower. What Antenna?

I find your results of your window of direction to be surprising. Also any weather interference for that matter? The n71 band (600mhz range) has a wavelength of ~1.5 feet or so. I wouldn't think either of those items would have that much affect. I will most definitely have to play with direction mor...

Re: T-mobile home internet - external antennas

Maximum theoretical speed for N71 with 20x20MHz, 2x2 MIMO, and 256QAM is 226.85Mbps. I assume that theoretical is for single n71 SA connection? With the normal ENDC mode you have to aggregate it all together and include your speeds from your main 4G band along with any spatial streams and extra 4G ...

I agree with cagordon1985. I also have the 4x4 MIMO panel you referenced. Even though it does cover almost every sub 6ghz frequency, it doesn't seem to give as much gain as might be needed in the n71 lower frequency. Depending on the distance to the tower and interference you might be good with the ...

You will find RM500Q-AE antenna port mapping shows lower bands only available on ports 1 and 2. See my first couple posts in this thread for details. Also, see those posts for the possible ENDC combinations. The trick is the primary ports are 1 and 2 and they are also the lower band ports so both th...

Those 'NR5G-NSA' values only indicate that the modem is capable of connecting to 5G and from the numbers you can see that it is not connected (max default values such as 32768, 65535). If it were me I wouldn't put too much effort into B71 if not going after 5G. Around my area it isn't one of their primary bands for 4G use. 2/12/66 are their main 4G bands in these parts and I would assume its that way in most areas so they can keep 71 open for their 5G customers. As far as Tmob goes, I think B71 is more geared towards their lower 5G band. Fairly rural area here but looking at cellmapper all of the tmob towers near here like to latch on to 2/12/66 for their 4G signal and i've only seen B71 connect when locking to it and singling it out. Re: We826 with em7455 on verizon.

TTL 64 was the magic number for my vzw setup if I remember correctly. As far as 64 working in the router and 65 working while tethering is because by tethering you are adding 1 hop to the destination traverse I would assume.

Re: Unlimited AT&T Post Paid Tablet Plan with MoFi

Does any of the devices automatically reconnect after they lose connection? 30 hours without a dropout on a "wireless" connection in general is pretty good in the big picture of things imo. There are all kinds of factors that are completely uncontrollable when it comes to wireless and inte...

Not sure on TTL. Connecting phone to router via USB and enable 'USB Tethering' should work.

Re: Fastest Modem for Upload?

I think the size of the cable is due to cable length rather than power. Running RF cables at lengths of 200-300 feet your gonna need some extremely low loss cabling. Look at the size of regular cable tv coax compared to LMR400 or even LMR600 RF cable. Its crazy the difference between diameter and ho...

Additionally, our phone testing is with Visible which should be the same as the VZW modems, but throwing that our there for full transparency. Not quite sure if your testing setup (phone setup) contains the visible sim or if the new equipment but either way SIM provisioning (provider) will matter. ...

Re: M1 Nighthawk experiment

It's been an interesting morning; currently, the M1 is getting data from a tower that's 170 degrees from where I'm pointing the antennas. There's a couple of small forested hills (50 feet high, about a quarter mile away)on the other side of where the tower is, but I wouldn't think they would bounce...

As far as overall bandwidth, will I still see an improvement after bonding even with such relatively high latency? I saw another writeup that mentioned needing 20 ms max for an OpenMPTC instance to work well: https://milankragujevic.com/openmptcprouter-true-bonding-of-2-wan-connections-for-cheap Th...

Yes just typical prepaid phone unlimited plan. Doesn't look like they are offering the discounts at the moment though. Seems like I remember VZW being picky on the modems but don't remember the details right off hand. Thats the only obstacle I can remember when setting it up.

Re: Spending too much on useless service?

The only reports of getting shut down that I've seen are from the 'old' $35/mo ATT ipad-tablet plan. The newer $20/mo. tablet plan seems to be just fine. Not saying it won't happen in the future but for now it seems fine. If one is looking for something with absolutely no worries then it would be be...

Re: Verizon service advice?

You could always go with unlimited VZW prepaid too. Yes it is a bit more $ but you don't get throttled like all of these MVNO like to do. I've tried several over the years (even though most are all tracfone) and speeds weren't anything close to the real deal in my area. I think it started out as $65...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

Thanks mtl26637! I thought about going direct from the streaming device to OMR. Being that the OMR device has only 4 ports (1 LAN, 3 WAN). "bandwidth greed" set in and I didn't want to sacrifice a port and hoped for another simple solution. Actually it may be as simple as you had hoped. Y...

Re: OMR Bypass

I had pretty much this exact issue and spent way to much time on trying to set it up through the double NAT. In the end I finally gave in and set my main netgear router as an access point and let the OMR device hand out all ip's via DHCP. Now that I have it switched over and working there is no way ...

Do you have to call AT&T to find this unlimited iPad plan? Does it have to be an iPad, or can you use an Android tablet? I have heard many people talk about these AT&T tablet plans, but have yet to find any reference to them on an AT&T website. I also don't have an iPad... https://wirel...

I take it back. I can't leave it at that as I think I see the issue. Putting everything aside and looking at your screenshot, first thing I seen was your signal strength. I know you said your signal strength was better at some point but 29% is pretty low. It's possible for whatever reason, the new s...

Not sure why the attitude. Definately wasn't expecting that. I'll 'prove it' if I get spare time. Not positive but I do believe I was having trouble with the onboard slots. Re: PSA - ATT iPad Plan Users who got kicked or need replacement.

I kinda see both sides of this. I feel pretty much the same when people use this option to save a few bux a month and use terabits of bandwidth on the cell towers when they do have access to fiber or cable. Hopefully for most who are here, this is their only option to get a true broadband connection...

Re: Upgrading my current setup with Raspberry Pi

I wouldn't underestimate what the pi is capable of, especially the pi4. The pi4 has gigabit lan and usb 3.0 and there is firmware for all versions of the pi floating around. It was even powerful enough to run OMR which I had used to bond 4 separate providers and use as my main home router. Only down...

Re: Tower "DXing"; does this happen often?

If the tower hasn't been 'logged' from many users from "all" directions then the location of the tower can be fairly inaccurate on cellmapper. First thing I would do is download cellmapper on your phone and go find the exact location of that tower and drive around it in all directions and ...
