It's PCIe. But the USB hack was just publicized.

I found out 4pda figured out how to enable USB mode. You have to bridge the leftmost pads on the back. You might need to cover the pads for CONFIG_3 on certain adapters or boards but didn't have to on mine. you also might want to switch it to the Thales MV31 customer id using AT^CUSTOMER=14. What router did you choose for the T99W175? Are there openwrt builds for it? P&W R619AC which I've modified to enable the PCIe lines. Along with an mPCIe adapter that has the PCIe lanes connected. It's officially supported by OpenWrt but back then I had to patch the kernel to support the module...

Have you tried bare metal windows? if yes, yeah might be DoA. I actually got more of the lenovo cards for cheap and havent had any similar issues. Although I only tried it on an RK3588 SBC and not my router with PCIe.

If you want something mainline-ish, there are various forks that add support for this. robimarko is probably gonna upstream this in the future though.
