Re: All firmware for Netgear devices can be found here
AKosterin (who posted original ROMs @ https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=778715&st=1720#entry126851144) says .53 is "research[]" only, and "not a stable build". Q to AKosterin - what makes this .53 unstable? .53 is not stable firmware. It is firmware for Netgear teste...

That is because these factory packed firms (spk/cwe) do not write all parts, especially the parts you need it to. and some of them it only writes generic or non specific values, such as parts of the efs, userrw, cust and hdata. you can see my screenshot to compare the devices partitions and the unp...

If you're running them off AC power, have you tried removing the batteries in them? Some of the MR series overheat when the batteries are left in, but less so when they're removed. I don't know if that applies to the 6500 series, but it would be an easy thing to test.

Did you see the file posted in the large thread about photos of the MR2100?
Did you read through the relevant parts of that thread? There's a firmware file now, albeit without the system files.

Re: Firmware file for M2-MR2100-100EUS modem
Is the power light on solid or is it flashing red? According to Netgear, if it's flashing red continuously, the modem has a firmware fault or hardware problem. https://kb.netgear.com/24328/What-should-I-do-if-the-power-LED-on-my-Nighthawk-router-is-off-or-blinking If and only if you have the receipt...

Re: Anyone interested in photos of internals of MR2100 (M2)?
I barely knew how to use a scope that last time I used one, which was about 5 or 6 years ago. I tried, but only got straight-line DC-type signal on the large pads near the battery connector. I tried to pry the cans off, but 1. I think they're soldered on and 2. My arms/hands are very unstable, so I ...

Re: Anyone interested in photos of internals of MR2100 (M2)?
Will a multimeter suffice (voltage) or are we talking about waveform shape changes or something that would only be detected on a scope? WTH? I type the word "waveform" and it shows an "o" in waveform, but when I click Submit, it shows "wavefirm" with an "i". W...

Re: Unlock MR5100
Is there a process to carrier unlock a mr5100? I have one that is carrier locked. I was able to repair the IMEI without issue but its still carrier locked. All I have found looking around is doing it via ATT (which didn't work for me - this was an ebay item) or via one of the paid unlock services. ...

Re: Anyone interested in photos of internals of MR2100 (M2)?
The device does not trigger any reaction when connected to Windows PC via USB-C. So, I guess the PC is not seeing it. I tested the three dots in the triangle you mentioned with a multimeter. I did this this with just the meter-no resistors. They're very small, by the way. I had no way of keeping my ...

Re: Anyone interested in photos of internals of MR2100 (M2)?
I would love to, if I had a working router. Unfortunately, mine doesn't finish booting. It flashes the LED red, which as I understand it, is a known firmware bug, or possibly a hardware bug. Netgear's docs aren't terribly clear on this.

Re: Anyone interested in photos of internals of MR2100 (M2)?
Hmm...okay.
Talk to me like I"m five.
I'm not clear, you want me to connect the pads to an oscilloscope WHILE a USB-Serial adapter is connected at the same time?
And, you want me to connect this to my PC via USB? Separately? At the same time? Spell it out for me, Renate.

Sorry, how will I know if VID/PID change? You're talking about viewing through a USB-serial adapter or some other way? This is largely above my pay grade.

Thanks, Renate. Measurements on the big 4, as you put it were (assuming I measured right): 0V, 5.01V, 1.8V, GND Can you be more specific about what you mean by shorting between them using a resistor? Which pins, or does it matter? What would I expect/hope to see while shorting them while doing a pow...

Okay...well no one requested them, but since there were already 62 page views, I'm guessing someone must be interested. This is the MR2100-100EUS (EU) model. Some of these shots were very difficult to get in focus, since the case is smooth plastic. Also, some of the components have a protective laye...

After some initial obstacles/hassles, I uploaded all the files to this person that he requested. I then asked an extremely simple question (simple, as in, requires zero work, 5 seconds to answer) and never got a reply. So this person came across to me as selfish. I wouldn't help him again.

Yeah, but who on earth has the firmware files on disk? I've done a fair amount of reading, and never heard of anyone that has it. If you come across it, please let us know (if you're willing).
Netgear has become very secretive about their firmware starting with the MR2100.

How reliable a process is reflashing an MR1100 with firmware this way? Does it ever fail? Does it matter which firmware is currently on the machine? I'm guessing not, since it isn't fully loading to do the flash?

I suggest you take a look at the forums for usbmodeswitch. They know a lot over there about getting LTE dongles to work in Linux.
