Re: Activating a Calyx Router in a non-Sprint region

I am happy to say Calyx has worked reasonably well except for streaming video. Have been running Calyx 4g LTE for about 1 month. 4.8 miles away to somewhat tree obstructed tower, getting 20-40mb/s down 3-5 mb/s up with external antennas. Speeds can be quite variable. It will get over 60mb/s down in ...

Activating a Calyx Router in a non-Sprint region

I was looking at Calyx as data option. This was a Sprint plan initially, now turning into T-Mobile but that process will take years apparently. They still issue routers with Sprint sim cards. I asked Calyx if the router could be activated in an area covered only by T-Mobile (so router would be on ex...

Re: Good Verizon plans for Gl-Inet x750v2 router

I wouldn't recommend any of pre-paid verizon ulimited plans. I tried the high tier plan without the extra $10 limited hotspot. So many ports were blocked, could not VPN, no IMAP/POP, streaming 480p at best. Could only use ports 443/80, so web surfing only and could use exchange server as it too uses...

Why not just get ATT Prepaid Unlimited Plus for $50?

Re: PagePlus Throttling

So far, I have hit throttling on Page Plus once over 60Gb for the month on a phone(took me 22 days to get over 60Gb), it is now consistently 5mbps up and down. No where near the 200Gb hard limit. Won't be renewing this next month, may try Verizon Prepaid unlimited next. After 60gb it is no different...

Re: Has anyone tried the ATT Unlimited Elite plan?

Yes, so far post paid ATT Elite streams much better then T-Mob does at my location (tried the postpaid Magenta Max plan, what a joke, not to mention T-Mob's signal maps are a wildly inaccurate and you cant even make a call without going outside despite a "fair" signal or better on their ma...

Re: T-Mobile Magenta Max still throttling Netflix and Youtube

There is an app called WeHe in the android/ios stores that does this check on your phone through its current connection (Wifi, Cellular). I fell for T-mobile's usual hype.

T-Mobile Magenta Max still throttling Netflix and Youtube

I thought I would give T-Mobile a try in my location. Subscribed to the Magenta Max plan that is supposed to allow streaming up to 4k and no throttling on video. Appears T-Mobile still isn't honest about their throttling or network congestion. WeHe on my phone shows they still throttle some streamin...

Re: Orbi LBR20 How-To / Megathread

Bump...Is this a known issue?? Do I need to upgrade and figure out the circle_jerk hack? Perhaps my firmware got corrupted? I did have a power outage. What magic is getting lost? Did this unit every get upgraded beyond 2.5.2.20, this seems to affect persistence of settings and I would go forward an...

Re: Orbi LBR20 How-To / Megathread

Never used the orbi app, but Netgear tells me that it will notify me of updated fw availability. SOO, I just installed the Android version and lo and behold, it is gave me an option to update to fw version 2.6.4.2; which is NOT available on the Netgear LBR20 download site... Since, I've little to l...

Re: Orbi LBR20 How-To / Megathread

I am glad to hear shinesmart had some success with the updates and modem firmware. I may trial the new firmware at least on my Visible LBR20. The Visible LBR20 seems to get kicked off the network connection about every 3-4 days and needs a restart on 2.5.2.20 firmware. So far the AT&T connected ...

Re: Orbi LBR20 How-To / Megathread

So far my cronjobs have stayed put. I am not sure what kind of interface change would cause cronjobs to die. Netgear has a couple of jobs in there as well (that I should probably get rid of as they look like update checks). So far crontab -l has shown the same three jobs for several days. If you are...

Re: Orbi LBR20 How-To / Megathread

Thank you for all the updates. I am sticking the 2.5.2.20 version presently, it has been very solid and so has the A05 modem firmware (for non-T-mobile carriers). My routers have stayed up for weeks without disconnection issues (but I am not using T-Mobile or Sprint). I did note that the while loop ...

Re: Orbi LBR20 How-To / Megathread

Thank you for all your help hazarjast. The orbi has greatly improved speed vs the old mofi and helped make the internet far more usable at my location. I took your advice and blocked all the auto-update features, although it seems to know about the LTE firmware despite my efforts. Now my Orbi wants ...
