Hi! New here, can't seem to find an answer to this one. I have a WG1608 (ROOted) and an EM7511 modem. I have the EM7511 installed in the WG1608. The firmware on the EM7511 is a bit old, and I'd like to flash it to a newer version. Is there a way for me to flash the EM7511 with it installed in the WG...

On my WG1608, the heatsink copper pad on the modem (EM7511) is facing down towards the circuitboard of the router, without enough room to put on a heatsink. Is it ok to put the heatsink on the opposite side of the copper pad?

@eist1 - any chance you can spell out what you did to make a WG1608 work? Is the 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz firmware installed first, then openWRT 19.07 snapshot, and then the kmods? Thanks!
