Re: Using T-Mobile 600 Mhz. Band 71?

I was just about to post a very similar question. From what I read there is a difference between devices capabale of Band 71 vs Band n71. n71 being the 5G band. I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to determine if I have this coverage since I don't currently have any 5G devices. I am using Goo...

What has the greatest impact on latency for LTE?

Now that I am getting adequate speeds, I am wondering what factors can and do impact latency on LTE connections. Most of the discussions around here are in regards to speed/bandwidth. I have seen latency as low as 38ms and as high as 2000ms. I seem to average ~80ms regularly but there are lots of fl...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

Ok. I jumped on the wagon here and setup openMPTCP using Vultr and a linksys wrt3200. I have a cba820/em7565 sprint on wan1 and a netgear nighthawk att on wan2. Everything seems to be working great but now im trying to get all my streaming services, online gaming, and plex/ombi servers working righ...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

I'm thinking support for the EM12-G has come more recently than last year's ROOter, so you'll want to upgrade to the latest build. I was steering you away from that version due some minor issues with the network switch configuration. Go ahead and upgrade to 2020-03-10, but be aware you'll need to u...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

I recommend the adapters without a SIM slot, but I've occasionally had to use the others due to availability issues. In those cases, the slot on the board has still functioned -- and is highly preferred for convenience. I received my RBM33G's and flashed one of them. Installed m.2 to PCIe adapter a...

Bummer that is is SMA connection. I picked up one of these too while waiting for The Wireless Haven to restock their 15dBi flat panel. Need to see about adapting it to N-type connectors in order to use it with my lightning arrestors.

Interesting EM7565 LTECA parameters...

I was perusing the AT command reference for the EM7565 and came across this: https://i.imgur.com/HdGnPmD.png I'm probably reading this wrong, but is this saying you can specify the bands you want to use for uplink and downlink? This would be rather amazing, as usual Band 12 is pretty saturated here ...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

Last question (for now): When using the M.2 to mPCIe adapter, do I need one with a SIM slot or can I still use the SIM slot on the board itself?

For flashing you don't need a USB -> Serial cable? I was looking at this guide here: https://www.ttl.one/2018/08/installing- ... bm11g.html

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

Yes, you can use an mPCIe modem directly (both Sierra and Quectel modems need to be configured to use USB2 "lines" only -- which is easily done by AT command), or if you have an m.2 modem in an m.2 to mPCIe adapter it's plug-and-play. I just ordered some RBM33G units from Streakwave Wirel...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

I think you're on the right track with the network architecture you have in mind, with the cellular routers in the barn, and the OMR router in the house. I'm fairly confident the 3B+ is the problem. I used the Raspberry Pi myself originally with ROOter, and had great success with the 3B. The 3B+ th...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

I have had problems with VLANs on the Raspberry Pi 3B+ -- so I'd be sure your issue doesn't lie there. Check the log for errors related to the Ethernet port. I'd also suggest verifying your Ethernet run to the garage and barn aren't part of the problem. Cable testers are cheap these days, so if you...

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

The quest continues... Wondering if you ever ran into any latency issues with the VLAN on a ROOter device? For some running in this configuration is giving me latency spikes. Even just pinging from OpenMPTCP router directly to the ROOter device. More info here if you are curious: https://github.com/...

How to put EM12-G into QMI mode?

Can anyone verify the correct AT commands to do this? It is currently showing in MBIM mode in Rooter.

I found: https://www.wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=674#p5763 but JimHelm's response (https://www.wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=674#p6172) makes me nervous about entering it.

Re: WAN Bonding with ROOter and OpenMPTCProuter

Problems with not being able to save changes is usually related to a corrupt SD Card filesystem (which can happen easily on an RPi). Do you see "Unsaved Changes" in the upper right corner? If so, more recent RPi versions of ROOter include a filesystem check and repair menu item. Run that ...

I meant reflashing it with the same firmware after the reset command then reset it again. From what I've read, it could be an engineering sample, and/or locked hardware for a laptop. Check out this page full of great info, you could even contact Daniele Wood. https://github.com/danielewood/sierra-w...

Re: Flashed latest generic fw on MC7455 now "config name mismatch"

It may be a shot in the dark, but try switching to one of the other images then back to generic using the AT!IMPREF="<name>" command, maybe it's just stuck. Besides, if the modem is functioning on generic, I wouldn't worry about the version string too much. Yeah I will try flashing some o...

Re: Tower options?

At only 2.1 miles you should be okay at roof height... The trees aren't that big of a deal with decent antennas (15dbi flat panel or better). My tower is farther with no LoS (lots of southern pine) and I can still pull in over 100mbps down / 40up with a parabolic grid. The biggest thing is keeping ...

Re: Flashed latest generic fw on MC7455 now "config name mismatch"

The second one looks better, I would try reflashing it again and run the reset commands again. The older version string might be for informational purposes only, I wouldn't worry about it as long as the modem is working fine. I've run the reset and flashing process twice now, still get stuck with t...

After flashing it, try running these commands (one of the reset commands will fails which is fine): AT!ENTERCND="A710" AT!RMARESET=OEM AT!RMARESET=1 AT!RESET Wait a minute then: AT!ENTERCND="A710" AT!IMPREF="GENERIC" AT!RESET No dice. I tried running through everything...

Tower options?

Anyone have information about setting up antenna towers? I am currently 2.1 miles from a tower stationed on a water tower. My antennas are on top of a small out building I have, maybe 12-15' high. But from that location I still cannot physically see the tower. I am guessing this is due to trees in t...

Flashed latest generic fw on MC7455 now "config name mismatch"

Title pretty much says it. I tried to flash the latest generic firmware onto my generic MC7455 and it all looked like it went fine. However, the modem now comes up stuck in "low power mode". After some digging I believe this is due to a "config name mismatch", but I cannot seem t...

Re: My 4G setup/project

I am about to begin the journey of setting up my own installation and had a few questions for you: 1. Did you terminate all the cables yourself to get the minimum possible length? 2. Why did you go from LMR-200 to LMR-400 instead of just using LMR-400 for everything? 3. Can you explain how the ubiqu...
