Re: Router for RV

I understand being able to use a business WiFi connection (campground, hotel, Walmart). I just did not think it made sense to put another router between it and the end point. The big thing is the simplicity of changing the WAN connection in one place if you have several devices on a LAN. Also the r...

Re: Router for RV

Hard to figure what the WiFi as Wan is necessary for. Most campgrounds provide Wi-Fi. It's usually not great which is why RVers use cellular but if you're lucky enough to be somewhere with adequate Wi-Fi then Wi-Fi as WAN lets you use it transparently if the cellular signal is bad or you just want ...

Just curious if you had a Linux distro connected device if that would make a difference. I notice when I sign into Google on the net it always tells me that I am trying to connect with a Linux device. So I would guess Windows does the same. Re: Affordable Low-loss Coax cable type for outdoor antenna!

Your antenna choices likely will require several adapters as one uses N connectors and the other uses RP-SMA. For cable you need 50 ohm rated. On the low loss side that means LMR-100 up to LMR- 600. On standard cable types that would be RG-58. You can google loss per foot. If your use case is such a...

Re: Indoor Antenna Suggestions

You could try a inexpensive MIMO indoor antenna and see if it gains you anything. It might help if your modem router setup does not have internal antennas. Many modem routers don't. That is why they have whip or paddle antennas. Your cell phone likely has at least two internal and maybe 4 antennas.

The most practical thing is just add longer cable. The amount of loss is likely minimal even with connectors to extend length.

You also do not have to expose your modem/router to the elements nor need a doohickey POE setup.

Do you have lte only set? Also what does: AT!GSTATUS? return.

One thing also to watch for is AT&T has a whitelist of devices they will allow and your modems IMEI may be an issue. Your I-phone would not be an issue as it is on AT&T accepted LTE list.

If only one TS-9 port being used your antenna is not MIMO.

A MIMO antenna will have two cable connections, Inside the MIMO antenna is actually two separate antennas Cross Polarized. If you buy only individual antennas you need two that are setup at 45 degrees apart per instructions.

It is very easy to go through GB of data when streaming movies or TV shows. This has nothing to do with the TTL settings but everything to do with the quality of the movie d/l such as SD (480P), HD (1080P) or 4K. Because you have a 100gb limit you might want to stream in SD or HD to limit your usage.

Re: WE826GO-U Connection Issue

Looked at their website. I would guess you are being blocked by AT&T. Incidentally I ran out of my DATA allotment this last weekend on my Cricket DATA only plan (AT&T) it presented almost identical symptoms that you are showing. Connected but nothing more. Other than the notice in SMS messag...

Re: WE826GO-U Connection Issue

Can't find any I3 mobile with internet search so hard to say if they have a APN they need. Interesting that you could get online in the past without a APN set unless it populated itself via your sim.

If you have a data sim from someone else you could check your hardware is OK.

Re: WE826GO-U Connection Issue

I see that you have AT&T as the provider. Is your APN set correctly for the MVNO you are using? Also with AT&T it is entirely possible that they decided to block you. (By the way your 100% signal strength is amazing.)

Thanks. I would prefer a more regular cellular router like the Orbi or the LM1200 but if the only thing they will allow for AT&T is the mobile hotspot devices like the Nighthawk then I guess it is what it is.

Re: Good Verizon plans for Gl-Inet x750v2 router

Rather a no brainer is it not? Get your money back and start over. I have read that there are people using the Nighthawk with Verizon but I have no personal experience. Lot of times what worked previously will not work now or shortly in the future.

Re: AT&T shutoff of 3G February 2022 may affect you.

I had a conversation about this over on AT&T's Community forum. https://forums.att.com/conversations/other-phones-devices/what-mobile-hotspot-devices-wil-work-after-3g-shutdown/6130f56db13a2a33516760f3 Not looking good for people with non-whitelisted data devices. ETA: I just had one final messa...

Re: Orbi LBR20 How-To / Megathread

Would someone that has a Orbi LBR20 do a IMEI check at Cricket https://www.cricketwireless.com/cell-ph ... your-phone to see if it is compatible? If not likely AT&T is also going to turn these off come Feb. 2022 as being 3G devices.

Re: AT&T shutoff of 3G February 2022 may affect you.

I am wondering if anyone out there has a Nighthawk M1 4G LTE Mobile Router that they could check the IMEI at Cricket for compatibility. https://www.cricketwireless.com/cell-ph ... your-phone

If I was to buy one it would be good to know if it works. Tia.

Re: I don't know what to buy anymore

Which modem module did you get in the unit? They have different options for different carriers. ATT sells a mobile hotspot plan with 100GB of data for $55, you can order online or get it at any ATT store. Should work great as long as the modem used is on their whitelist of compatible modems. Do you...

Some of the mobile Hotspots will. Generally a TS-9 connector for Netgear offerings.

No mention of any cellular modem/routers such as Netgears LM1200 or even the Cradlepoint units

People with vehicle based modems might also be impacted by this stuff.

Re: AT&T shutoff of 3G February 2022 may affect you.

For ATT it is called their sunset program, they are dropping all wireless devices that do not support VoLTE. That's all. Quectel has already released updates or revisions to deal with the changes that ATT is putting in place. I think Sierra has as well, but I don't have direct communications with S...

AT&T shutoff of 3G February 2022 may affect you.

Cricket sent me a SMS notifying me that my Sierra EM7565 (in a WG3526) would no longer work come Feb 2022 for their Data only plan. They base this on all devices must be VoLTE (HD) after that date. I have known for sometime that Cricket was no longer allowing IMEI's from many cellular modems to be a...

The thing you are powering should be in a weatherproof enclosure. Regardless of how you power it. By having a better power source than POE you can even consider adding fans for heat control. Yes electricity is a hazard. No one should be doing things that they do not fully understand the consequences...

There have been BIG changes in PoE, can now get 100W out of a Cat-6 Cable. :o The main reason to use PoE is for a clearer setup and for safety. Playing with 54V and not 120v outside in a wet environment. Note there are many different types of PoE http://www.poesystem.com/news/Difference%20among%20I...
