Not sure about Netgear hostpot, but any GoldenOrb flashable router has regular VPN and Wire-Guard built in.
It's possible to add it to hotspots too, you may want to contact Rich Hathaway for that.

I would pop the sim card into a phone to check if calls and internet are working properly. If it's working in a phone then it's the router, if it's flaky in a phone, then it's the service. That simple test would narrow down the issue quickly to a service or hardware issue. Also, I would not use a VP...

Now I am back to 5Dn and 3Up. Is there a way to specify what band I use? As I mentioned earlier, it's best to run the speeds test late at night after 11pm when the network is less congested. Those will be the highest speeds you'll get from your combination of modem, carrier, plan, and location. Dur...

Can I use the router to fine tune aiming the antenna? How would I do that? Assuming you have external antennas, try rotating them together in a full 360 degree circle at 45 degree increments (8 turns total), restart the router each time, wait about 5 minutes, then test the speed again. It's importa...

Would IMEI be the reason when we are talking about tethering the phone? Wouldn't think so. Every once in awhile it does work and gets past the 5 Mbps. Think there is some way they know when you select USB tether on the phone must be flagging them somehow. Cause even after disconnecting it from rout...

It might be a bit. Telit decided to make their 5G modules a different length than everyone else, so there is literally zero devices that can hold it down properly. We'll have to see what manufacturers do. Say hello to Duct-tape! lol Kidding aside, I've been using a small piece of thick insulation f...

Do you know which AT command I would use to force the modem into IPv4? I can see if that works to solve my issue temporarily. You could try it, but from my experience once you restart the router, it will be likely changed back to IPv4v6 by the firmware. There's a mod on this forum which lets you ha...

Is "magic" legal in the United States? Having hard time finding straight forward yes or no for this. Without beating around the bush, the straight answer is "NO", there's a federal law on the books against "cloning". Some people do it with a "donor phone/tablet&qu...

I tried those changes to the LAN interface and now the modem is able to connect and get an IP address but it does not allow me to browse any websites. I keep getting a DNS probe error. Any suggestions? I tried it in QMI, MBIM, and ECM mode. Well, you could either tether a phone via usb as an extern...

I used it in the phone and it works fine with using usb tether. Now that I look at it I’m actually referring to the APN Protocol. When it’s set to IPv4 it works and IPv6 doesn’t work. Is there anyway to update those settings on the modem? You can set the "APN Protocol" via AT commands to ...

Thank you BIllA :) . I have re-flashed to the latest firmware provided above, and ping is working now. funnily enough ping is working under IPV6, but when i went the additional steps and disabled IPV6, ping no longer worked on IPV4. perhaps the reason it wasnt working before i updated the firmware ...

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I am quite experienced with most networking stuff but GoldenOrb is a bit new to me. I would try the following. 1. Reflash the router with the latest GoldenOrb firmware in bootloader mode. https://wirelessjoint.com/viewtopic.php?p=6007#p6007 Latest WG160...

Ring devices do not connect. Google Home does not connect. Unable connect to OpenVPN server. Before anything, I would test the sim card in a phone and find the APN the phone's using under Connections/Mobile/Wireless > Mobile Network >APN. The "APN Type" in the phone is usually set to &quo...
